Hello

I have a question. I own Meng's 1/35 FT-17 (Riveted Turret) the kit # is TS-011, while building it some small metal parts that go in the suspension where thrown away with the manual.

I have checked their website for support, but they do not offer an option to download the manual digitally
and they request pictures of the part that you are missing in the model kit's manual. Any suggestions?

I checked Meng's website but they do not offer an option to
Thank you all for your help!

You throw away the instruction manuals? I have almost every manual of every kit I’ve built since the 70’s! Yeah, I may have a problem...

Hello, Everyone!

Don't even get me going about me keeping my old model kit assembly manuals/instructions...

For Jaime: Unfortunately, the Asian model manufacturers are very lax about communicating with modelers when they have questions. Sometimes, you may be able to find someone on a hobby site such as ARMORAMA, BRIT MODELER, MISSING LYNX, etc, who would be willing to help you out with your parts and assembly manual questions/problems by sending or selling you the parts and/or the instruction manual for your WWI FT-17 Tank...

Again unfortunately, I don't have a spare FT-17 in my own stock of hundreds of kits, otherwise I would be more than happy to help you...

GOOD LUCK!!!

I had boxes of instructions not just from kits I built but from kits other people built. They were going to toss the instructions so I'd snag them. Kits from the late 60's to about 2004. It was getting out of hand. But the house fire helped out in that regard, none of the boxes survived. A blessing perhaps?

Even though I don't Facebook, I'm sure Meng has a site. If that doesn't help you PM me for contact info.

But here's my advice if you want to continue without the parts: Back in 2002 a friend of mine, Major Rob R., found this FT-17 in the famed Kabul bone yard.

I've always wanted to do this scene but I know I'll never get around to it. And no, that is neither he nor I in the photo.

Why would you throw away the manual before you finished the build....assuming by 'manual' you mean the instructions? I guess you might be able to scratch the missing parts though it sounds like Meng are being as helpful as possible...

On a side note, it appears that the Afghan FT's were ex-Polish Army ones. Some were sent to the USA, but one of them has been restored in Poland :

Meng does indeed have a FB page and they do eventually answer messages.

Dennis, when your Chinese or Japanese gets as good as their English (which we always seem to expect the other guys to use), I'm sure you'll get faster replies.

My contacts speak (have spoken on the phone with them) better English than a lot of Americans I've encountered.
That said, my Cantonese is coming along. Mandarin still a struggle.

It's unfortunate that we expect the rest of the world to speak English and yet make little or no effort to learn foreign languages. I speak decent Mandarin, but the 8 tones of Cantonese do me in. I suppose if I had started in HK, it would be the other way around.

It's anecdotal, but I find Cantonese actually disappearing from parts of Southern China like Shenzhen and Hong Kong, where wait staffs are often communicating in the Nation Language. The central government has also pushed back against Cantonese, which has some in Southern China antagonized.

My wife's family is from Hong Kong. Learned my first phrase through context when we told her parents we were getting married: Ho Mafan.

Keep in mind, Dennis, that Chinese culture is thousands of years old, and many Chinese feel that Westerners are simply too primitive to appreciate the fine points of their history, language, and cuisine.

I'm familiar with Chinese history & culture- The "Western world" is composed not only of "big noses", but we are "foreign devils" as well. Nice to know that we are still so popular with the Chinese...

I am not going to go into "Western Imperialism"- Once again, that is politics, and to repeat what I said in another thread on this site, this site is supposed to be "apolitical", so I'm going to leave it at that...

PS- I DO love Chinese cuisine, though being diabetic, I only indulge myself one or twice a year, at most...
