Dear all,
Thunder Model has provided us with two splendid models (at least if you are an artillery fan, like myself): the 7.2 inch howitzer and the Scammell Pioneer R100.
Since one can combine these two models to one correct combination, it would have been logical (at least to my humble opinion) to give the modeler in both sets at least a choice for the decals to combine them.
Now the tractor has the well known ‚unknown unit‘ and the 1st British Army, 54 Heavy Artillery Reg but no such dedication for the gun.
The other way round: the gun belongs to the 51 HAR, but no options for the R100 (if they used the R100 at all?)
Now at my side some questions remain:
1. What was the color of the 7.2“ and was it camouflaged?
2. Did the 51 HR, RA use the R100? And if so, what were its colors and was it camouflaged?
But I also have a question about the huge blocks (to avoid a roll back while being fired), were they stored in the tractor?
And should not the big one be at the backside and the small one at front, contrary to the painting guide of the 7.2“?
Would a ‚re-headed‘ crew from Tamiya‘s 25 pounder fit to this gun? I suspect that a normal crew would be around 6 gunners, right?
Thanks for helping me!
P.

Looks like this one, belonging to the 51st Heavy Regiment, Royal Artillery (France, September 1944) has a camo scheme :
It matches the one in the kit box art....
Neil Craig has built 1/76th scale Milicast Scammel R100 and 7.2" Howitzer with 51st HR markings :

Does anyone of you have an organisation scheme of the UK Artillery units which used the R100 and these heavy guns, please?
I would like to find out which trucks were used to supply the ammo while they were placed at their gun site position.
And were (red/white?) poles used to adjust level and direction?
