There is a projection on the roof of the ZTZ 96B , to the right of the gunners sight system. Any clues to what it is? Location points towards a vent for the gun. But the look of it is like some optics / sensor. Photos I've seen are inconclusive. Trying to figure out if I should paint it the turret base color or paint it like there is glass in it.

Looks like a vent of some kind, that may be seen covered in other pics.
