i have just come across a panzer wrecks book with a panther numbered 058 (iirc) for which the text states belonged to a recon unit. is that correct?

If I remember the numbering correctly, I believe that this Panther could be from either the Regimental or Battalion HQ Recon unit of the 1st or 12th SS Pz Rgt. (Maybe both)

I believe both regiments numbered their panzers slightly different from the Heer counterparts. Especially the 2 reg'ts mentioned above...
