Why I'm not surprised? Looks like somebody there has serious problems with the sight: wrong roof shape, 2 door hinges instead of 3, rounded door upper front corner, rounded door windows corners, etc.

Ilian, which picture did you compare it to? I looked at the one picture of "Erika auf Urlaub" on tapatalk and it compares quite well to me!

What's missing, though, is the searchlight and the rear view mirror.

Looks pretty ok with me too.

But something is bugging me for a long time, since I purchased the kit. Watching the pictures a lot of the Büssing 900 shows up IMHO, looks like some hybrid design in 1/35.

Kind regards,

Think designers at Das Werk mixed up a lot of details.

Büssing NAG L900 front.

Faun L900

Having no exact drawings design is based on a logical process with a lot of freedom. They admit that in the instruction booklet.
Personally I think the chassis they modeled is 80% based on the Büssing L900. Rest is guess work to a certain, acceptable level.

The most glaring error is the shape of the front fenders. This cutaway on the front is a mistery to me, as I have never seen it on a period photo. Judging from the Büssing photo you provided, they seem to have taken the shape from that, whereas the ones on the Faun had a completely round shape.

The issue with the wheels is also strange. It has been discussed to death on tapatalk, to the point I'm not even able to follow. Judging for myself, just looking at Erika, the front wheels seem bigger in diameter than the back ones, which would explain the headache with the distance between them and to the fenders.

Sadly, I have already bought the resin replacement wheels from Custom Scale. Now Panzerart also released two sets: Fulda and Continental. I think I'll order their Continental set, and use that for the rear wheels, and the Custom Scale ones for the front wheels.

If you replace the wheels on the trailer also, you double the price of the kit just with replacement wheels!

I'm almost at the point converting the kits to Büssing NAG 900 Trucks.
http://fahrzeuge-der-wehrmacht.de/Lkw.html has some good reference on the back of the truck.
You can compare that to the Faun in 1/35 from Das Werk. IMHO that is a Büssing tail.
Büssing NAG 900

If one has the kit, you'll know what I mean.
From discussion on other Forums, I got tired of those tire talks. So Panzer Art comes up with a new set, but where is the source? As mentioned, the designer team simply admitted it was a guesswork to certain levels, (nothing to do with 'eye-sight').
I simply decided to wait with the build, see what happens to give me the push either to convert them to a Büssing or build the Fauns.

Well guys,
The picture of "Erika" wouldn't tell you much but the other picture in Holger's site is informative enough. Talking about the cab roof in particular, not only this picture but almost all pictures of L900 with closed cab are informative. But let's start with it.
Can you see here rounded corners of the door windows?

Or here?

Can you see here again rounded corners of the door windows and rounded upper front corner of the door?

How many door hinges you see here?

And so on...
I don't have a wish to comment here the plastic kit errors, the list is long and boring, I'm afraid. If including the trailer it would be even longer and definitely more boring.

Pretty sure they moulded the correct 3 hinges.
Take a look at the CAD pictures.
Right hand side shows the middle and top hinges.
Left hand side shows the middle and lower hinges.
CAD drawings don't tell the story when it comes to moulding. I want to see the moulded parts, so I can judge, but hope I'm right on this point, because a lot of strange CADs show up every time.
About the door windows you're right, but it will be an easy fix I guess.

Robert Jan

Hi Robert Jan,
In general I agree with you about all those cheating renders but I don't think this is 3D:

Note how the lower hinge halves are misaligned and some door edges are in disagreement with the cab shape, most visible on the lower right corner.
Cheers!

Thanks Ilian for clearing the subject. Now I'm sure I need new glasses
So decision for me is made to convert Büssing NAG 900

Kind regards,

Robert Jan
