Building a Cromwell 1944. I prefer Tamiya and have seen several mix ratios. Have we settled on a "closest" yet?
Thanks for your input.

From a listing of Mark Starmer's colour mixes (the acknowledged guru of Brit Wartime colours)
SCC15
Mix: 5pts XF61 + 2pts XF62 + 2pts XF3.
This is fraction darker than the standard so a wee touch more XF3 won't hurt. Then allow for scale effect.

Keep in mind that Tamiya colors changed drastically over the years, so so exact recipes Starmer came up with may or may not be accurate anymore.

At it's best, it's never an exact science - and there's always variations in color. By most accounts, British OD VERY closely matched US OD, until it started to fade and showed a marked tendency to green. I start with Tamiya US OD and add just enough Tamiya Olive Green until there's a visible difference, then some Buff, or Dark Yellow, for fading and scale effect. Allow extra Buff if you're going to apply a black oil wash.

I've used Mike's recipe recently and it does look good to my eyes. But I have to say that once you add the shading, washes, filters, dry-brushed dirt, and other treatments it can be hard to tell the tank was green, let alone the correct shade of OD! Maybe I need to model them straight off the wash rack...
