Now that the contract is signed, an accurate 1/35 plastic kit of this would be nice, complete with nine seated figures, M240 guns, cargo, ammo cans, personnel gear, and decals.

It would definitely be a breakthrough in the 1/35 plastic market. It's not a Fast Attack Vehicle, but similar to the Ranger Special Operations Vehicle, just used to transport U.S. Airborne and infantry troops, and sure beats walking to the objective.

Strange, seems like a step back to the old days, but fun looking.

Is it based on the JLTV? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot to the vehicle. An open frame to get out quick.

No. The Ultralight Vehicle is based on the Singapore/General Dynamics Land System's Flyer 72. Normally it can't seat nine, but this one was configured to carry a full U.S. Army infantry squad.

The U.S. Special Forces use the Flyer60(inch wide) and Flyer72(inch wide) as the GMV 1.1. The Flyer60 can fit inside the V-22.

But before you go rushing out to buy one, due to the open sides and roof and lack of armor, open sources cite that the U.S. SOFs prefer to take the armored V-hull anti-IED M-ATVs, JLTVs, and MRAPs into combat instead and leave the GMV 1.1s back at base.

For the U.S. Airborne, it's the opposite philosophy as any ride is better than walking to the objective carrying 100lb backpacks, or landing at the objective.

With the BD kit available, there is a chance that someone in China will reverse engineer it. I think that the M1142 is also "borrowed" from BD. After I had a close encounter with the 9-seater Flyer, I am tempted to make a conversion on the BD kit.
