A particularly nasty period in African history and it is great that such stories are told to another generation that probably otherwise would never hear of it.

For the better part of 1977 through 1979, I participated in quite a few missions on the African continent. Along the way, the missions were mostly logistical, but every now and then, we would bring back some war booty headed for Aberdeen and/or Ft. Hood. The treat of all these missions is witnessing all the varieties of aircraft and armor that we carried or was exposed to. A lot of these weapons had nothing to do with the theater we were present in, but somehow made their way to our FOB for transport. I suppose the backroads of these areas was not practical for airlift, so tank transport on the ground led to our FOB as the staging area. It was a remarkable period in my career to see all these vehicles, no matter who 'owned' them. This will make great reference material for placement on the shelf.
