Hey all Im new been makina couple of dioramas for a while now and Im half way through a dio with a U.S half Track with the AA turret (please excuse the fact that I dont know the thame of this halftrack) While Im more interested in making the model rather than historical correct-ness and what not I do want to make the model properly. So, can anyone tell me or show me how the firing man got in and out of the turret of the AA gun in the back of the U.S half track? I shall be putting up pics in the near future.. thanks all

If you mean the M16 ( quad .50s), I never really considered it. I've built the M16 half-track and the AFV club gun truck and never considered the crew's access. Looking at it afresh, the gunner would either have to have a hinged armour piece somewhere or climb in from the top.
Must be someone out there that's actually seen one!

M16 and I believe the gunner just went up and over the back end of the quad - no door or anything.

If you watch the movie The Longest Day, there is a scene where the Germans erroneously have a Quad .50 for beach defense. However it does show the German soldier climbing over the top back of the turret and sliding down into the seat.
