Well, I tried using some Silly Putty to mask camo this weekend and have to say I'm pretty happy with the results. Went on pretty easily, came off without pulling off the basecoat, and left a good crisp edge.
Only downside is that it takes quite a bit of the stuff to mask with. I was only able to do a lower hull and still had to fill some of the middle areas with masking tape, which was a mistake as I had one minor area of bleed through. Probably will just go ahead and order some in bulk off ebay for a lot cheaper?
Anyone happend to need a half dozen eggs worth of the stuff? I'm sure I'll have some extra. :-)

Along with the silly putty.. You can also use Blue Tac the same way and save room on the Eggs.. I have used Blue Tac to mask Wheel hubs on Aircraft and also masks for Camo Patterns
Unless of course you need the Eggs for Easter..

I've used the Silly Putty for masking before, and it's pretty good stuff. Say, what model did you make? I used it on a Hanomag, (Early and bad-looking model now) and I could use an entire egg. Maybe two or three (At most) could mask an entire tank (or "wingy thingy"). Oh, and space: Just put some in a small sealed container, something for a buck from a Dollar store or something. Thanks for your time.

I did the hull on the Trumpeter AS-90. I didn't stretch it super thin, but wanted to be safe and make sure it covered. I'd originally bought a couple of eggs just to try it out, but it'd be nice to have some extra, so I might either pick up a couple more eggs, or if I"m really in a hoarding mood, get a brick off e-bay.
I was just happy with how easily it went on, didn't pull of the paint, and conformed around edges. Much easier then tape and now as big of a mess/pain as liquid mask.

WalMart has a knock off for Silly Putty call Play Putty. It is sold in a twin pack for 88 cents. You can also buy the Dow Corning 3179 Dilatant Compound which is generic Silly Putty at
