Great-looking T-64 and diorama! I haven‘t seen many dioramas dedicated to these Cold-War Soviet vehicles (my favorite modeling subject) and this is excellent - the figures and their poses are well done, and I like the contrast between the tank with its low-slung, almost sci-fi appearance and the everydayness of the setting - the trash cans and oil barrels, brooms and dustpans and the posters. Good job and the fence and the concrete groundwork as well.

I really enjoyed what you build & presented here though I do reluctantly question the shade of light green for the tank. I've only seen a forest green paint scheme myself and wondered if this was to represent an old, tired and sun-faded tank? The figures are great.

Er, just coming to the completion stage of my own T64B diorama; can anyone confirm what constitutes the exhaust? Is it just the shield-shaped grill to the right of the rear hull, or is it the rectangular slats - or even both?

A study of footage etc has left me uncertain (unless I've missed the obvious).

In other words I need to know what to blacken with my pastels.

Honestly , I dont care too much about the particular shade of russian armor. I used to think that they used paint close enough to forest green. I do not search the one and only propper shade, but this particular tank was shouldnt be faded or too dirty - they were relatively new , and it was the army garrison, cleaning was the everyday duty.Thanks, Greg

I think exhaust is the shield -shaped grill

From the National Interest:

The T-64 and T-80 series tanks have a horizontally opposed diesel engine and a gas turbine engine respectively, both with large exhaust ports at the rear of the tank. The other platforms have diesel engines with exhaust ports on the right side of the tank.

Thanks; if it is indeed the "shield" shaped grill then I can happily blacken that - but I also wondered what the horizontal slats were to the left of it. Clearly I'm no mechanic/engineer but if anyone can enlighten me I'd be grateful.
