Just finished: My Leopard 2A4 NL in scale 1:35. The kit is by Revelll; a fun and straightforward build, but I wanted to add some more detail to the model, so I added various parts from LeopardWorkshop and some lenses from VoyagerModels. To finish the model I also added figures by MiniArt.
I hope you like it!

Nice one Jesper. I like the tarp strapped around the hull. It gives an original touch to your model.
Didn't the kit come with the MAG 58?

Thank you Olivier! The kit did come with a FN MAG, but I decided not to add it as it wasn’t mounted on some of my references.

Thank you Dan! I wasn’t even born when this thing was in service, so no, I didn’t serve on this tank

Great work, Jasper! I have that kit also somewhere in my stash. Still have some nice memories seeing those Leopards 2A4NL in Bergen-Hohne (or at Langemanshof Barracks) during my active time in the late 1980's. On one exercise I even supplied them with 120 mm ammo, as I was a truck driver then. But during my 1st year of service I was a gunner/loader on a Leo 2A4 from the 4./PzBtl 83 in Lüneburg. Unit doesn't exist anymore ....
Too bad, that the Koninglijke Landmacht has no Leopards anymore. Your country has to "borrow" them from us when needed.
I will always have a soft spot for the Leo 2, especially the 2A4 ....
Again, great work, very well done!
Torsten
Walter, I would use Revell 46 NATO Olive. Not sure if that's the correct colour, but the dutch Leopards always looked a bit more brownish than olive-green to me.

Thank you very much Walter!
I used a 50/50 mix of Olive Drab and NATO Green. Not accurate, but it gives a nice contrast with the Gelboliv chipping I applied and looks better after weathering. I figured plane olive drab would be very dark after weathering.

Thanks Marc! That sounds like an interesting project too, with that iconic Dutch lion on the turret.

Thank you Torsten, glad you like it!
Interesting to hear your experience with the Dutch Leopards. The correct colour would be olive drab, but I didn’t like the looks of that so I went for a lighter shade and added some darker weathering to create a more realistic look. I think it turned out quite nicely.
Regards,
Jasper

Very neat panzer; I like the simple weathering and the tarps that adds a little extra and dynamism. Can you show us how did you made your tarp ? The A4 really has that special look that more recent iterations of the leo don't have anymore.

Amazing job mate. I'm really tempted to pick up a Meng Leo after seeing this.

Thank you very much Tom, glad you like it!
I used tissue paper dipped in PVA glue diluted in water for the tarpaulins. This video demonstrates the technique: https://youtu.be/TsByIlnjHV0 . I added some rope for the tie down points of the tarp, and then painted and weathered it. It’s fairly easy to do and looks convincing.
I hope that helps!

Thank you Nigel!
I would love to build that Meng kit too, the Meng Leopard 1A5 was a joy to build so if the 2A4 is anything like that it should be well worth it!
