This kit has a fairly detailed engine and bay, but the way I'm following the instructions you won't be able to see any of it when the model is done. So, I'm considering keeping said motor for another project where it can be displayed. Can anyone familiar with the kit tell me if I'm barking up the right tree? Looking forward to building this monster.

It might be possible to see a little of the engine between the slats in the radiator grille
BUT
there should be a radiator behind the grille which would completely block the view to the engine

It should be easy to make something that is close enough to a radiator to block the view through that grille ....
I think you can save that engine if you want to
