well, there is the crew........(no offense to any current/former tankers out there, but the OP left hanging out there)...

Seriously, I think the Marines use onlY the M1A1, whilst 'big green' (army) gets M1A2 and the M1A2 SEP variants

USMC Abrams have different smoke grenade launchers, Army has a single launcher whereas USMC mounts what appear to be paired M257s. In use it is common for Marine Abrams to leave the aft track shroud off, leaving the sprocket exposed. It was also very common to see the exhaust collector (I'm not sure the correct terminology) of the wading kit mounted on the back end - without the pipe/stack mounted.
Recommend visiting USMC.mil and searching "Abrams" through that site.

Correct on both accounts. As I recall Marines went from the M60a3 to the M1A1. So outside maybe some tee sting didn’t use the M1 105mm or the other versions the Army did.

As I recall each service in practice uses different tusk parts, APU locations. Lots depends on timeframe and location.
