I don't see why it wouldn't be able to, but could the Horch 4x4 1a tow a 7.5Pak 40 ? If so, I will use that on mine.
I just got one delivered along with the 3.7 AT gun...
Pics of the Horch are few and far between, and I just wondered ... No doubt Frenchy will prove me wrong and post loads of them lol.....

Well I decided to go with the 3.7cm as I now have other plans for the 7.5 Pak40.
Have just primed it all on the sprue, then will get it assembled over the next few days. Once that's done will do all the final painting and white wash on both at the same time.

Hey lads,
I forgot to post my status updates but I basically went with a Tamiya M4A3 (105) Howitzer Sherman.
I built her oob but decided to add cast texture on the turret and transmission
Decals on and they conformed well to the cast effect. Not bad for Tamiya.
And here I am now, after two day's work on the whitewash.

There is a reason they are so rare - they do not exist. The vehicle towing capacity was low due the sheer weight of the Horch itself. A PAk 40 and ammo would be stretching it too far. The smaller Pak 36 was possible but proved less than ideal as the Horch was never meant to pull AT guns:
Most Horch used for towing were dedicated Flak 30/Flak 38 tractors as they were lighter guns, or Searchlight movers. Most others were just used as personnel carriers, ambulances, etc.

Nigel, lovely look you have on the Sherman, very nice. I have asked about the surfacing methods people use before but forgot which thread it was. What did you use on yours and how is it applied ?
Peter, thanks for those 2 Horch images, very nice, and it is a very camera shy wagon ... some things I have seen on those will need to be added to mine now.
Speaking of which, I have done all the assembly of the Horch and 3.7cm At gun, painted them and there is now an initial coat of whitewash, going to let that dry then apply another thinner white wash so it hopefully looks like its been redone once or twice.
I want to try and get it looking like the wash was applied by a crew who only have the basics at hand like rags, maybe a broom or sweeping brush etc to put the wash on with and not have an overall equal covering.
It will also be getting a liberal coating of mud effect on the chassis and heels and a heavy weathering after..... just to hide all my errors lol

@kunjuro Your Sherman looks great. The whitewash looks spot on.
My Dragon pv iv ausf g "Kharkov" trundles along.
Have got most of the hull completed. The engineering is great with excellent fit, but the bogies, the bogies… There were locating nubs to attach the bogies to the hull but when dry fitted they were at every angle possible and would no way have sat four square. I trimmed the locating nubs off and eyeballed the placement instead. Result: all road wheels make contact with the ground (well my modelling mat). Here are a few progress pics.
Next up: attach tools to fenders, get started on the Friul tracks, and then the turret. Happy days.
Cheers
Matthew

Thank you all for the lovely feedback
@John Hagan - I used Mr. Surfacer 500 to add the surface effects. I just took a stiff brush and stippled the putty directly to the turret and transmission cover. I did run the effect though some sanding afterwards to tone it down. Some people prefer to dilute Mr surfacer or use a higher numbered one. I've also done this effect with Vallejo putty but it takes longer.
@Matthew - nice to see the progress on the Panzer IV. I still have two boxes of the same kit in storage and I think I'll do them in whitewash as well.

The hull and superstructure of the SU-85 are together. I did not attach handles and grab rails because I thought some squeezing might be involved in putting it all together. There was only a little squeezing, but squeezing was needed. Altogether it fits really well. I ended up with one slight gap between the rear mud flap and the right fender that is a bit of a head scratcher as everything there seemed to go together well.
I'm going to paint and weather the suspension areas, and put the tracks on before finishing the upper hull. I think there will be some fiddling again to get the wheels aligned correctly and I don't want to smash a rail accidentally.
Here are my current in progress shots:

Quick status update since I'm nearly done. Just need to weather the rear deck a bit more and the tools before calling her done

Phil and Matthew, the builds are looking great.
Nigel, love it. Nicely turned out and not overdone. It will look fantastic when you have run the last few yeards.

Well, I'm calling this one done.
Not my best work by far, it was a bit rushed and that's down to me over committed to too many campaigns.
It was a very old kit which I have built a few times before and back then didn't realise some of the issues like dink marks and minor errors, but you live and learn lol.
It went together pretty well on the whole, and some of the kit issues were able to be hidden with some MIG mud and dirt pigments strategically placed lol.
I didn't want to do a complete white covering on the vehicles, but more of a in the field and done by the vehicle crew with whatever was at hand. So patchy and haphazard in the coverage.
Figures are not my happy place lol, but I did as best as I could. I used some Archer dry transfers for the collar tabs, which were very fiddly, but they look good. I need to practice alot more on the flesh colours and some other areas, but they add to the finished item.
Will post a few more pics in the campaign gallery. It's been a fun build and a great campaign with alot of great effort in all the entries.
Stay safe

The brushed on white looks good! It's a nice change from the airbrushed, chipped, and runny look (which also looks good).

The cost of the amount of Mig mud needed to fix all the issues would be high John.
Looks great. I do like the painted by hand effect, it appears just like the real thing. Well done.
Yeah the base kit has issues, but for its age, it is still an okay kit. I have nearly finished my detailed up one - painting the last details right now.

Thanks for the feedback guys. That's the look I wanted; on a field replen, the QM comes up and chucks you can of whitewash and some rag or a few brushes and says "you have 30min, get the whitewash on, them I'm going".
There will always be a place for the more precise and conveyor belt applications of whitewash which would of course taken place such as when a troop of tanks was idle for a test period etc, but there would also be alot of improvisation and and hoc applications with whatever the crews could get hold of.
Keep smiling

Does archived mean we will still be able to read them but just can't post anything new? Or will they be completely gone? There is some great content in threads here that I'd hate to lose access to.....
