I am starting to build kits as a set of opponents. I chose the M51 and an Egyptian T54A to represent the 67 war. I chose the Shot Cal and a Syrian T62 for the 73 war.
Decal choices became a challenge. I found Syrian T54 decals for the 73 war and T54 decals for Egypt in 73. I went back to the internet to look up Egyptian Armor in 67 and the images I found were SU100's, T34's, Pzkfw IV's, AMX 13's, The Sherman/AMX hybrids, and T10's or Stalin 3's. Did I get the T54A's mistaken for representing Egypt in 67?
I know Syria had plenty of T62's in 73 but I haven't found a decal set for those yet.
Any ideas or suggestions from the bleachers?

"350 T-54s were ordered in 1960 from the Soviet Union and delivered between 1961 and 1966 (the vehicles were probably from Czechoslovakian production line). 150 T-55s were ordered in 1963 from the Soviet Union and delivered between 1964 and 1966."

I found one image of a T-54 or T-55:

Thanks for the reply, The Star decals are for the 73 war and I was looking for the 67 war. They might be the same but I am not an Egyptian expert.
Robin, How ironic that Egypt had 500 of the T54/55 series tanks in 67 and there is 1 photo. Did they keep them on the African side of the Suez Canal and put their older stock in the Sinai?

Acording to the captions these pics showing Egyptian tanks are dated 1967...

I didn't spend a lot of time looking, I was in a hurry to reply before Frenchy so I was satisfied when I had found one photo to confirm that Egyptian T54A's saw battle (burning on the battlefield definitely counts as "participated").
Cheers / Robin

At least you've also beaten me to it in the M247 roadwheels thread

Negative. The 4th Armored Division and the 6th Mechanized Division of the Sinai Field Army had a few hundred between them. Those Tirans had to come from somewhere...

Thanks, I have found 5 more photo's but none are in a condition to see any markings. One was on display and people were climbing on it but the contrast was at a point that no markings could be seen.
Thanks Israel, I suspected as much but photographic evidence is not abundant at this point in my research.

No, not really, but I would've probably picked the T-34/85 as an opponent to the M-51 as the original designs of these are from the same time-period. I think the T-54 would be better displayed alongside the Shot' Meteor or the Magach 1/2.
By the way, the M-51 proved to be surprisingly successful not just against the T-54/55 during the Six-Day War, but also against the T-62 in '73.

The M51 had a good HEAT round. That balanced out the T series armor advantage. It boiled down to who hit first lived to fight another day.

Correct. In addition, the IDF Armored Corps always put a lot of effort in improving long-range accuracy.
