Hi again. I am getting confused as to what size chain to get for the M747 trailer that goes with the M911.
Accurate Armour have sets of chain in very small small medium large and extra large.
I need to know which chain to use for securing the ramps and some general chain for the load M60 tank also chocs and D shackles.
If any of you have used Accurate Armour and done a 1/35 trailer similar to what i am doing. Could you please tell me which chain size i should get.
It would be appreciated Im not that good at working that sort of stuff out .

I moved this topic since I thought that the chances of a useful reply is better here in Armour/AFV

Have you looked at these (Cold War):

or maybe these (Modern):

I would go for the very fine (D16) chain for securing the ramps. Possibly also the medium-fine (D16A)

If you have the trailer reasonably ready you could measure the length of the chain and count the number of links in the image above. When you know how many links per inch you need you could compare with AA's product images.

Coming from the aircraft world of tie-downs (yes, we Flight Engineers had to know how to load and do CG as well), our 'normal' compliment of chains were of the 10,000 and 25,000 pound variety. From the looks of the chains that are restraining the ramps, I would venture out there and say they are 10,000 pounders.

Do you remember the approximate length of one link or the number of links per foot?

I don't recall the number of links in a foot...but, I'm sure there's a active duty/Reservist Loadmaster out there on a C-130, C-17, and/or a C-5, that can surely get you that request answered!!
