They announced this kit about 3 years ago. It was what the original M1120 was supposed to be. I will believe it when I see it.

They even had a mock-up of it in plastic at least a year ago.

Container Handling Unit. It is the clamp on the front of the container that allows the truck to pick it up.

Item #3. It also includes the guides marked #4 added to the rear of the truck.

Well we all assumed that once Trumpeter prototyped one they would get around to offering the CHU (Container Handling Unit) sooner or later. Mean while I have happily had my scratch built CHU for almost two years now. Also our discussion was at least partly responsible for inspiring Mike Goldberg to produce his 3D printed offering and make it available on Shapeways.

So I guess I would simply say "good news fir us and more power to Trumpeter!"

Second that defintly, would save me a lot of money instead of buying expensive 3-D prints.

Talk about the HEMTT A3 as well as the A4.

Then ask them why they are building all these new well done MAZ 8x8 trucks based on their new Scud TEL chassis but failing to upgrade their old, Old, OLD, MAZ 537 semi-tractor which, in reality uses the exact same chassis as the Scud carrier and would be an easy improvement. Also they are now offering their 'NEW" KZKT 8x8 with crew cab but instead of basing it on the new Scud chassis they used the molds from the old MAZ 537 as a starting point so the new KZKT has all the same faults as the old 537.

The A4 (and A3) utilizes the TAK-4 suspension, a scaled up version of the coil spring suspension used on the MRAPs. In actually the new HEMTTs are using the bigger, monster version of the TAK-4 that is currently in use on the BIG Oshkosh airport fire engines.



Sorry to correct, but I never saw a TAK-4 under a HEMTT A4, the only TAK-4 are attached top the PLS A1 on the front axle.

No idea. They could if they want to spend the money on it.


The HEMTT A4 uses a pneumatic/air bag suspension.

Front:


Rear:


Prime Portal has a 12 page A4 walkaround.

The M1074A1 & M1075A1 PLS uses the TAK-4 suspension on the front only. The rear suspensions are the same as before. The two rear ones are the standard HEMTT leaf spring and the third wheel is a cantilever with air bag.

Looks like I was wrong on the TAK-4 suspension Gino.

(I told myself to keep my mouth shut until Gino could answer - unfortunately I didn't listen.)

Is a version of the TAK-4possibly used on the A3?

I thought it was and also thought this same suspension was employed on the A4.

It looks that way. Who knows what would have/could have been though as the A3 (electric drive) verion was not purchased by the US military.
