Hey all.
I stared my frist dio!
Its in the "member Galleries". Its still in the starting stages with detaling of the figures, vegetation, weathering and petrol and blood trails and graves still need to be re-done. But tell us what you think. Suggestions? And some guidlines or healp with the Name of the dio would be greatly apreciated.
Any tips on anything?
Thanks all!..
Cris

I like your scene very much. As i can understand the rest of the half track crew is six feet under!!!! and the one talking on the phone with his girlfriend is about to meet them soon. nice thinking, nice setup, nice worked out. As u say some more weathering on the half track , will show it even better , (the seats and everything that seems fresh painted must seem worned out and used) maybe some battle damage on the half track also . ,bended fender, bullet holes and all these.
There is a case id be wondering, since the half track was trapped and 3out of 4 are dead , if the last one would have the courage and will to bury the rest ...but thats a different item. The guys uniform behind the half track looks alil shiny but maybe thats the picture of it. some pastel treatment will make it nicely showing. Take care not to go hard on blood trails, cause they might look fake. Dot try to make them very visible, better understated than pickin eye!!!!. The ground work is nice , gives the country feeling very nicely and i like it so far. I d give some more detailing on the crosses of the buried to prove how the two crossed woods are joined. Nails? rope? something cause they didnt have glue!!!!
Its a very very nice scene, and being your first i d say that u have a bright dio modelling future in front of you. Fresh ideas(that u have !!) and patience is the trick.
Keep like that and i ll be happy to assist u on anything u might need .

Great start to the dio. I agree with Major Goose, you need to add battle damage to the half track. You may want to make so damaged that the GI is stranded. It may make the call for help even more dramatic looking. Have a track damaged and coming off or a front wheel off. Just an idea.

Excellent dio! Doesn't look like a first time. One thing I must comment, the blood stains don't look quite real to me.

You might want to darken up the blood trails a little and maybe put a coat of varnish over them to make up look like they are fresh and will give the illusion that they are more of a puddle.

Interesting story - I didn't see it coming. Nice I like it.
MG notes some good points.
I'd like to offer some suggestions and things to look at for next time.
Where is the radio mans weapon? Personally, I wouldn't be without one.
I'm going to get a bit picky, so take this with a grain of salt. I'll preface with the statement that I'm a huge "How'd it get there" person. I ask the question of 'how'd the 1/2 track get there how'd the GI get there, how'd the German get there etc. With that in mind, how'd all the dirt get there. I mean I'd expect the grass and road to have abit of the grave dirt sprinkled on them a bit more. And where's the shovel?
As you add more weathering add some of the mud to the inside of the AFV to mimic the GI's using it.
I'll wrap it up and say I'm a huge fan of not forgetting the base. I'd add a bit of 1/2 round trim to the edge of the base to dress it up and really finish it off.
Don't take these things to hard. You've got a lot going for it. You've done a nice job with details, blood, bullet holes, dead GI's rifles, helmet etc.
The idea is a great.
Good job.

The dio looks great!! The grave markers might look better if they were made from sticks tied together with rope (just a thought).

Thanks all!.. apreciate it! Big boost
I have tanken it all in concideration and have working on it for 2 days now, sticks done with ropes on the graves, battle damage done and some wearthing still to come.
slodder,
you got me thinking too now, "how did everything get there?" The shovels in the ground, but I didnt take a proper photo of it And the G.I is getting a weapon in the comming days. The german Im not too sure about that, how did he get there? I might add one more German, perhaps a patrol?
The work is almost done!.. Pics will be up soon!

Nice work so far but a few comments.
Drill out the ends of the .50s. Be careful to line them up evenly, at least one is aimed off.
On the blood, as mentioned, this is a bit tough to work on and should be significanly darker, especially after the time it took to bury three guys. The passenger's wound site implies the bullet came from the driver's side, and could not have been made without some real poor moves. The door would have to have been opened for the driver to get hit, the driver has to fall AND the passenger has to remain seated and a target. Alternatively, It would take a heck of a marksman to take out the driver and passenger through those sllits on a moving vehicle) then take out a third, but leave the fourth untouched.
Finally, the dirt on the three graves should be the same color.
