Project is on hold for now until I can get better pics of the left rear hull, can’t really figure out exactly what’s going on back there. Until then, working on other stuff. [/quote]
I came upon a FB post of a modeller who had drawn up the APU exhaust in CAD & had it printed but for the life of me can't find it now, will keep looking .
Have you seen these photos ?

I don't think I've ever seen Abrams tracks that weren't already rusted. Cool pics, thanks for sharing.

Wow. So Dragon already has CAD plans for a SEP V3 with Trophy configuration?
Does anyone have any more info?

That image from Moxingfans is all that I've found so far. They may be first to market, but I'm willing to wait for someone to do it right. I don't even think there are good, definitive photos of the actual M1A2Cs out yet, just bits & pieces in various stages of construction.

1st Cav is playing with them, this is or should be the fielded version. Lots of pics of built tanks, some on trains being shipped out, online. I can’t imagine those are all test and eval tanks of some kind. Google M1A2 SEP V3 instead of M1A2 C. 👍
So, after I went on this rant, I realized you guys were talking about the Trophy version. More coffee...

Looking at the turret, it seems Dragon went with one of the SEP v3 prototypes that had weight simulators on the turret faces, so it won't be an actual, production M1A2c (disregarding the Trophy system altogether). Unless they change it before the kit production starts. Or it's just that the quality of the photo is too poor to make out the details properly.

Ok, I’m impressed. It’s not likely that someone would go to so much trouble to do a fake flyer that good, not like the Takom Biber box art. Which I’m hoping isn’t fake.

If made correctly, I'd bite.
The side turret baskets with Trophy APS seem a bit off in shape and the Low-Profile CROWS II isn't there. Here is a good photo of the M1A2 SEP V2 (scroll down to Dec. 29, 2019) with turret ballistic glass shields.

Still wish they could find a more integrated solution to mounting Trophy on this tank. If these tanks ever go through a heavily wooded area or a tight urban area, those systems are going to get shredded. Look at how beat up those Syrian tanks got from operating in cities.

I think such an idea would require a whole new turret design similar to the Leopard II "Next Generation" MBT.

Even as an interim solution it seems very bulky. Conider that the T-14 Armata has an integrated APS, and the whole tank tops the scales at 55 tons with a vehicle that is just a tad larger. Abrams with Trophy would be well over 70 tons if the rumors of the Trophy system being in the neighborhood of 3-4 tons are true.
The Ukranians on the other hand, were able to develop an 'aftermarket' APS upgrade for their T-84 Oplot that's actually quite small, self-contained, and can be bolted to different areas of the vehicle.

Specifications say that Trophy is reloadable. Is the reloading automatic from the Trophy discharger and the new side boxes are the reloads, or are the side boxes attached to the side turret bins for the sensors, computers, and wiring and the dischargers have to be manually reloaded?

Judging from the pics, I think the turret armor is about 3 mm or 1/8 inch. It`s only tricky to get the angles on the armor.
Hmmm, maybe Robert Skipper can get to a v3 soon?
It's funny how you can be searching for something else entirely different and see your name pop up. I was unaware of this thread until now, but yes, I have done a walkaround of this version, complete with interior, although I had to promise not to share the interior shots, which are noticeably different in this version.
I have thought to add it to my Abrams walk around, which I have never sold, although I've sent it to folks as sort of a bonus for getting several walkarounds.
So bottom line - what's the word? Anyone got a line on the kit yet?
BTW, nice job, James. It certainly looks the part.

So are you saying that the U.S. Army redesigned the interior layout of the M1A2 SEPv3's turret, Robert?
One thing's for sure...the SEPv3 is no longer 70 tons...it is way over that number.

According to the folks I spoke with, it's pushing 80 tons. Hence the beefier lift rings, and even, according to them, thicker tow cables. The new hooks on the turret side are supposed to be a recognition feature.
And yes the turret interior layout is different.
It's interesting to mention certain things lie the turret armor. They say things "I wouldn't know, I only work on X and Y, not Z.
Or they look at you knowingly and answer with our equivalent of the German "Jein."

Thanks Bravo, I may did it out again and finish it up, modify the rear end at a later date when I get better pics. Been working on a couple commission Sherman’s for months, need something else to do.

I’m back at it, thanks to 18Bravo, got a lot done to the new exhaust or vent on the left rear, also did a bit to the front right fender, some sort of sensor mounted up there. I’ll try and get some pics posted on Monday. I’m working in the garage these days, very hot and can only work for a couple hours in the morning.
