Some really cool footage of the Normandy conflict.

What caught my eye was the one Sherman backing up, some odd pieces on it and numbers on the rear fenders, maybe the tank number from the squad, or platoon? M-5's decked out and some German vehicles.

The Sherman at 0:43 .... Looks like a storage bin on the engine deck. Maybe some sort of crate lid "midnight requisitioned " from a depot at the beach? One at 2:14 is Brit, Sherman V?. Number on the square on back is the AoS marking. Not sure who 40 was. Also has the T number on the hull. And can make out the T-62 track on the left side. The one at 3:02 might be Brit too. Looks like it has a AoS below the co drivers hatch.

Suspect it is British as I think I can see a smoke candle mechanism on the rear engine compartment door.



Definitely British, yes, but I'm not sure about the AoS. 40 would be on a black square and was for divisional level HQ troops/units, but this looks like it might have 3 digits and a white bar underneath, which indicates an army level unit. Army level units should not have attached armour, but it might be an army level artillery unit which would have the 2" white bar underneath _and_, if an SP unit, have Shermans as AOPs.



Pretty sure it's not Brit. That sign looks much more like the 3 horizontal colour bands used for embarkation coding. It'snot an AoS or formation sign and you very rarely see Brit tactical signs up on the driver's plates, far more usual to see them either on the differential housing or the lower outside corners of the glacis.
