I have the Takom Panther D late model (full interior) with Zimmerit; I also have a SS figure set from Alpine (SS Tankers reloading) in full winter garb. I’ve wanted to place these guys next to a Panther and I’m not sure if any SS units used Panther Ds in the winter - I’ve tried looking online and in my books but find lots of Gs, As but no D models for that time of year. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, while you’re here, any comments on that Takom model itself? Things to watch out for? I’ve started the interior and I have found that the transmission is having trouble “sitting” on the floor. Anyone else know what I mean?

Hey Felix!

I know the 12th SS Panzer Division HJ had a few Ausf D lates because I'm working on an SS Panzer Regiment 12 project and noted those curious ausf D's in the 1st battalion, 2nd kompanie. I do believe they had zimmm as well.

I’m pretty sure the Wiking division had Panther D’s in Poland.

I mentioned Wiking to him in the other post, which probably should have just been merged or moved.

Sorry wasn’t tracking the other post, BTW on YouTube there is some old propaganda film of the battle of Kowel where the 5TH SS broke through with Panther D’s

This is great information - thank you all! Much appreciated. I think Star Decals has some of the markings you all mentioned - I did I a quick “drive by” but will look more closely later.

I looked at Star Decals again and found set 35-C1134 - SS Wiking #1 which I think will work for my idea. It has markings for a D in winter camo, just what I was envisioning. Thank you all so much.
