Is it possible that the Panther A late equipped Panzer divisions would've met up with the Fallschirmjager? If yes, where?

Thanks!

I know that Panthers and Fallshirmjager unit operated in the Ardennes sector in 1944.... i don't know if they worked in support of each other or not.... Ausf A was the late model wasn't it? if so i think you'll be in luck.... (assumptions/guessing neccesary)
In the case of Paratroopers..... they won't have tank support on their drops
- There were Fallschirmjager units (6th parachute Bn) working with the 17th SS Panzergrenadier division counter attacking Carentan, but they were using Stug III assault guns. here's where it gets interesting... for a panzer reserve for the germans facing yanks, Rommel orders the DAS REICH panzer division into the region. The division had 26 panther tanks.
However, After Operation Cobra (25 July), all the Panthers were knocked out by the time the 17th SS (presumably with the 6th Parachute Regiment) and the Das Reich were working together.

So you may have to assume in the case of the Panthers and para's working together in Normandy as well....

HA!!! ive found some SOLID stuff here.... the German 3rd parachute division fought its way into Losheim on 16 December 1944, and when Battle Group Peiper reached the town after river crossing delays, he took the paras under his command. They were loaded onto the King Tigers (hence the dragon kit :-) ) However, there were Panthers in this column, spearheading it! The column met varying resistance from scattered American units with bazookas, and at one point, with M-10s, M-18s and 105mm howitzers.
So, there u go.... (my reference was SS Steel Rain - Waffen SS Panzer Battles in the West 1944-45 writen by Tim Ripley) i hope this is of great help to you, and good luck with the diorama

The Panther G was the last variant to see widespread combat use. You might find a (very) few Panther A's in the Ardennes, but the most common Panther was the "G" version.

Thanks for the info coltm4, really helpful. If there were slight chances of them meeting each other, could it be more possible if at least they ran into each other instead working together?

Hi Guys-

As was said earlier, the Panther G was the most common Panther in the Ardennes offensive. However, there were A's and even D's used, as the following picture attests:

This is a D, being resupllied during the offensive. It is supposedly a 2nd SS Panther, but I have been unable to confirm this for sure :-)

Later-
Jeff

I guess it would be quite possible they ran into each other. Maybe you could have the paras walking past some panthers in the ardennes, on their way to jump up onto the konigstigers... just a thought. Are your fallshcirmjagers winter dressed or wearing the normal jumping suit (ie normandy)
another thing, there were lots of fallshrimjaegers in italy, so if you have an early panther, maybe there was a panther-equipped unit there?

They're wearing the normal jumping suit. I was trying to make a diorama out of what I have already simply because I don't want to pile up unbuilt models. So I was kinda wondering if I could make a dio out of what I have but still make it historically correct or at least possible.
