Hello all,

To anyone who has built the Meng kit, any advice on how to secure the sides which hold the tracks to the body? If I secure them to where the attachments seem to indicate, the tracks end up slanted.

Any help would be appreciated!

When I built the Meng FT 17, I didn’t experience this issue. Here are a few pics of my assembly for you to see if there are differences.

[

If the stub on the suspension isn’t in the hole I’ve circled you could end up with the situation you’ve described.

I know the slot I’ve circled is for the other side of the model but they are mirrored parts, so you should be able to apply the info as needed. These picture were taken 5 years ago, and the kit has been completed.

Hope this helps.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the pictures! Your last picture is referring to the exact problem I am having. The bottom of the metal suspension part fits into the bottom groove of the wheel area, but the top is loose. The body bit seems too short to reach the wheel area part, so the entire assembly seems like it’s leaning in towards the body at the top, if that makes any sense at all.

I can do a bit of kit surgery if need be, but I have a feeling I’m just misinterpreting the assembly instruction. Also, the stub does not fit into the hole without the entire assembly being slanted. I must be doing something completely incorrectly.

Can you upload a picture of the mount and the sponson separately? Sometimes when I look at something too many times, I get fixated and miss something. I’m not saying that’s the case with you, but you never know.

After looking at both sides for a good half hour and trying to dry-fit everything again, I figured out that there's a really tiny ridge on the mount that goes together with a really tiny ridge on the sponson. The mount doesn't actually fit anywhere properly, it's only a half-millimeter ridge that gets glued together.

Now the next issue is that even when the two parts fit, the sponson is slightly slanted. I think the suspension bar may have to be bent a degree or two to accommodate the sponson sitting straight, vertically.
