This same vehicle was used in RIMPAC 2014.

I got this booklet, AAVP-7A1 LVTP-7A1 And Variants published by Full Detail in 1988, written by Ed Gilbert and Allen Swan many years ago in Tokyo. ISBN 0-945808-000-3
Good with lots of good pictures with 1/35 plans and detail drawings, but let down by printed on cheaper non-glossy paper. But understandable. There are some camouflage patterns.
I wonder if there was one released on the earlier LVTP-7 variants.

I have some decent shots of C7A1s uploaded to PhotoBucket however, that site is currently uncooperative and a bit of garbage at the moment. Once it becomes accessible I'll post some pics of C7A1s.

What era C7A1 are you looking at building? "Straight-leg" or RAM/RS? Pre-1995 would be straight-leg and older radios (RT246, RT524, R442s). Post 1995 could be straight-leg or RAM/RS with SINCGARS. Newer suite on C7A1s provides captain's chairs and laptops for the operators in rear of vehicle, along with host other antennas and electronic boxes.

I'll keep checking PhotoBucket so I can post the C7 pics I have.

can you tell me what is the purpose of the boxes on top/rear. Maybe some kind of electronics? I decided to build a most recent RAM-RS type with EAAK. I found hat using the AAVR-7 as a base is a cheap solution compared with the HobbyFan kit.

I'm not 100% sure what the boxes are other than to take a guess they are some sort of antenna. These were coming on-line right as I was retiring so, I didn't get much time with them.

Using the R7 sounds like a smart solution! I did the same thing in 1/72 with the Dragon kits.
