This latest Dragon kit now provides the exact components to build the Desert Fox’s halftrack mount, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, during operations in North Africa.

I like this, one thing I don't see on the details is the gerry cans for stowage on the back, even though it looks like the rack detail is there.

Thanks for letting us know.

Are the decals fixed? Otherwise it's another $15 added on for AM

I already have the old one. Unless someone wants to swap for a new one? No takers?

I don't see any of the stowage normally seen in photos of the original so that's a bit disappointing. Hopefully they got the decals right. The version I built of this a few years ago (vintage kit, can't remember the maker) had GREIF filled in red on both sides of the vehicle, but on the original it was only filled on the left-hand side. Quite a pain to correct...

Ditto on the decals. I recall the old Tamiya kit had the white-outlined "Greif".

As mentioned on another thread concerning other Dragon releases (the Neo line) it seems they are trying get back on their game; I've had success with their newer stuff (from the mid-2000's); yes their parts count is high or there are little issues here and there (as there is with any kit; none are perfect). But this looks like a good one and will definitely be on my wish-list.

My tip: don't bother with the kit's drive sprockets and tracks. With the drive sprockets you have the choice between incorrect newer ones or less detailed older ones. The magic tracks' guide teeth have a wrong shape and the pins are so thin they break on sight.

I recommend the Friul set, although it raises the price for such a small vehicle to a ridicule level, as the kit itself is not cheap.

Years ago I modified the then-new Dragon 251 kit to make "Adler", Rommel's other half track. It came out reasonably well and I built it so that you could lift off the top to better show the interior.

I remember the Tamiya kit which the tracks did not have enough of the track pads and road wheels that were not well detailed. Lots of problems, more toys than models. It came out when most of the Tamiya models were equipped with spaces for motors, etc, but of course there was not any of this included.
In 2004 I got one of the really poor SdKfz 8 antiaircraft half tracks and excuse me if that should be 7 instead of 8. I spent months on that kit alone, mostly doing research into the tarp that was folded for rear stowage that was missing from kit, and had a lot of help over at Missing Lynx including where to find great looking front tires. I had to scribe where the front chassis was made into 3 parts, plus replace the tracks and road wheels and sprockets, plus update guns. That is a lot to do but at the time that was the only way to get a nice kit. Cost about $200 to update everything at the time. So, I say that only as in regard to old Tamiya, which has been greatly outclassed by Dragon, except for the Famo and Dragon Wagon, two really fine kits.

I don’t think this is a new kit is it? The box art looks new, but Ive had a Dragon Greif in my stash over ten years now, complete with Rommel and staff figures and magic tracks. I hope if this is new, it doesn’t come with the dreaded DS tracks.

It's somewhat new because it allows to build a regular Sd.Kfz.250/3 as well, apart from the Greif.

Magic tracks included (according to the poster)
