I am looking to do my Trumpeter Ariete in NATO 3 color
I see 2 different variations OF THE NATO 3 color the french variant
where the wheels are painted black and the German /US where the wheels are green not sure of which one is correct or are they just variations used by different units
Now the next question what colors to use the grren and black seem to be the normal NATO green and black but the brown seems to be more of a dark earth i plan on using Tamiya or AK or a combination of both
Any help will be appreciated

From the one or two images of the C1 that show it in NATO scheme, the wheels are all black.
Be advised that this was a demo version and as far as I know all Ariete’s are in plain green.
SO, if you are making a fictional Ariel, you can do whatever you want. Paint them green or black. Maybe replace one or two with another colour to add visual interest.
As to the shade of brown use: I just did a quick google search for a German Leo 2 in 3 tone Camo and the Ariel in it’s three tone. The brown’s seem to match.
I would just go with Tamiya NATO brown, lighten it as much or little as you want for scale effect, and paint away.

Ok Frenchie. What alternate timeline or universe are you able to pull all your resources and photo's from!!!!??? I say that laughing at myself.
I am in the finishing stages of weathering my C2, and searched high and low for photo's. I like the plain green, but searched for detail shots and saw nothing in camo besides the pics of the C1 on a trailer with black wheels, with captions stating that the NATO camo was just a demo colour and would not be adopted. And this was only a few months ago.
So. I stand corrected, and thank you for posting these.

Great photos!
The colors of Italian camouflage are a bit more greyish than the Nato Green and Brown of Tamiya. The green is more similar to Humbrol 86 light olive, and the brown looks more milk chocolate than red brown, and a bit more greyish. The photos give a good idea.

The large formation photo Frenchmen posted (the last one) seems to show 4 tanks in 2 colour cam: black and green.
Lots more opportunities now

I guess it's in fact the 3-color camo seen in the other pics. Check out this video at 00:24 :

The brown is not as visible as the other two but it's there...

If you zoom in on the pic, you can see the brown

Are the Canucks stealing the Italian tank in that one pic? Colors look more like the Polish ones. Somebody out of Poland has Life Color making modern Polish colors for them. Also Hataka makes a modern Polish set too. http://hataka-hobby.com/products/modern-polish-army-afv-paint-set/

Toro Models was the place with the LC Polish colors. Got them for the set of Roosmaks. Have the 3 tone "Nato" and "sand" they used in Afghanistan.

Pretty soon this colour talk will rival the great "Proper colours for WWII German 3 tone camo" debates.
