So which vintage is this particular version of the M101 howitzer? I tried Wikipedia but it doesn't say.

M101A1 w/M2A2 carriage...

That should be the post WWII (up to Vietnam) version. The previous (WWII) version was the M2A1 howitzer on the M2A1 carriage. However post WWII, they were renamed the M101A1, with the M2A2 carriage. AFV makes a nice model of that version. I believe Dragon and AFV club both make earlier versions of the M2A1 with AFV club making a very nice early M2A1 with pre 1943 wheels and the early carriage, as well as the later post war, Vietnam M101A1.

The vast majority of 105 howitzers in RVN were what you have. There were many M102's for sure, but they are really late 67 and onwards. Yet the military still used the M101 in the states. Mostly for training and NG and Reserve units. Some M101's were modified to kinda bridge the gap. They said the way to tell them apart was by the shields. Can't prove it by me as they look the same to me.
