But I see almost nothing about the South Lebanon Army itself. Which is ironic because I thought they did so much to help Israel?

They did but after Israel pulled out of the "Security Zone" in southern Lebanon everything just fell apart in the chaos.It was just like after the United States pulled out of South Vietnam and the events leading to the North Vietnamese victory.
