I've recently started a new dio and I am looking for some helpful input . Check out the pics and let me know what you think. I just finished the basic exterior of my ruin before mounting it. The interior has been started. The walls were covered with 150 grit emery cloth to simulate cement and painted sandstone.
Thank for the input guys!!

Wow - very creative, you don't see to many corner doors done. I like it, the detail to the face is wonderful, losts of architectural details everywhere -nicely done. The idea of the emory cloth is good too.
One thing that is making me look twice is the heigth of the first floor windows. They seem (IMHO) to be to high. Now, I've been wrong before and people have shown me pictures to prove it, so I won't be surprised if you do too. From what I've seen, windows usually start lower on the wall and don't end so high (as compared with the door).
I was thinking of what may be in store, maybe there is a step up to a raised floor just inside a tiled entry way, that would support the design.

Thanks for the positive feedback !! Petro, It happens to be an older plaster kit from Custom Dioramics, about 5-6 yrs old. As for the window height, I think I will put in a small foyer with a two step riser with a possible marble floor. :-)

The build ing looks good and I would think the first floor interior would have rised up, so I think you are on the right track. Painting looks good so far, the only concern I have is finishing the interior before you mount it, asuming you will be doing some interior work.

Looks good so far. A couple of things you might think about:
. Some chips out of the exterior to simulate small arms hits.
. Doll house wallpaper with a small print for all or part of the interior.
. Doll house picture(s) for the wall(s).
Send more pix as it takes shape.

i believe that is a pretty good effort, and with some aging weathering will be much better even. Good work there, keep the posts coming

That is awesome. I am amazed by the architecture. I can't wait to see the completed dio.
