Spotted on a US highway recently:

Some speculation that it might be a VISMOD vehicle but it sure as hell looks like the real thing. Never seen a VISMOD that detailed. Appears to be fully equipped with the anti-ATGM jammers, etc.

There a russian spg brought back from Iraq after Desert Storm in the motor pool next to ours at Ft. Lewis. I think it was a 2S3.

I believe it was rumored that Syria received a few T-90s, It's possible this one was captured by one of the factions, & then given or sold to the US.

Are you talking about the SPG near center drive gate at jblm? It’s over there with the Bradley’s and M557s

Damon.
In addition, the T-90 is operated by India, Algeria and a few other nations. Wouldn't be unheard of that we simply made one of them an offer they couldn't refuse to discretely part with a few examples. I am surprised that this specimen was seen on a public road in broad daylight with no attempt to cover it up.

No idea. Last time I was on Ft. Lewis was August '93. It had obviously been painted by U.S. troops armor sand because the paint was fresh and there wasn't much rust.

Anyone remember when vehicles for Red Dawn (the original one) were seen being driven around? Lots of similar calls came in about those. And the Hinds created quite a stir as well. But a few telltale things gave them away. Things that would cost way too much to change. Like wheel spacing, for instance. Or the fact that the Hind's rear rotor was on the wrong side, or that pesky horizontal stabilizer being just plain wrong.
That doesn't appear to be the case here. The above photo indeed is clear enough to show some things not easily changed - the track for one. Or the location of the driver's hatch and periscope. (Remember when Pierce Brosnan famously drove a T-55 from the wrong side?) You can even get a good guesstimate on the width by using the known width of a standard US trailer.

Being evaluated as replacement for the Abrams? The Russians will sell to anybody these days. Where was the photo taken?

Maybe Aaahnold bought it to go with his M47? Maybe to convert to electric, like his Hummers.

That is what I wanted to say---the tracks look like the "Real Deal" and all of the other features too.
Here is a better photo of the T-90. It sure as heck looks like a real T-90 on that trailer to me.

What is very interesting is that the sand paint seems U.S. Desert Sand (can't really tell from that frontral view) with no Russian or Russian Ally two-tone camouflage pattern, meaning did the USA have this tank for a while and repainted it sand color?

Close enough, but the fine details don't fit. Definitely a prop, probably converted from a T-72.
- The front mudguards are different On the real one, they are firmer and longer.
- it has the RMsh tracks, a very rare thing on the T-90. The sand colored ones have only new tracks, at least in Syria.
- the front hull armor is off, compare the details where it joins the metal of the hull
- the Shtoras look like simple boxes, one of them seems to be loose.

There are several Russian vehicles at the Fort Lewis Military Museum, most were captured during DS. There’s a T72, an SPG, and several smaller pieces of ADA equipment. In addition, there’s a towed AA gun in the McCord AFB museum just down the I-5 freeway. Worth a look if you can get on base.

Two things: if the picture is the real deal, AND, if that photo was taken anywhere near El Paso/Fort Bliss, I would bet a dime to a donut it will soon be a part of the OpFor inventory!

The linked article was used to show the front of a verified real T-90 to use as comparison with the object on that trailer. On both sides there are speed limit signs like these:

Beat me to it. According to the article, it is one of four T-80UDs from Ukraine, purchased in 2003, meaning it's not new news.
I would suppose that one of the T-80UDs got dissected by the U.S. Army.
