Came upon this while searching for images of the counter sniper/anti material mount for the mantlet 50 cal. Can't wait to see some paint on it.

I’m not worthy...

In a weird way, that’s a good reference for a 1/35 scale kit

It's funny you say that , he writes he's been using 1/35 scale kits as reference because the Hooben kit is so basic.

That’s how I’d do it, too. Lacking access to the real deal, I’d scale up from 1/35, then use references to detail parts.

Thanks for the link, it is a good read.

I’ve spent many years working on the real deal M1A1 and many more modeling it. So, what the hell are those brackets on the back of the turret, inside the bustle rack?

My first thought was they were a holdover from the base model prior to the introduction of the bustle rack and designed to accept webbing straps but upon further investigation it seems this isn't the case. inquiring minds want to know !

These eyelets are what was on the base model, not those channels.

You know, they look like the brackets you put on the wall for hanging shelving.

They even have the hole and slot for putting a screw in and pulling it down to lock it.

I dunno, the way they're hung makes them look like Tiger I spare track hangers. Maybe they're used for ice cleats or something like that?
