Exactly! I'm wondering what they'll come up next with to sell us "all new, never seen before" stuff for effects we are doing for ages already with all the existing stuff thats readily available... It actually closes in to become a full out overkill/burn out with inventing stuff noone was missing before and now make them crave it.

Anyway, who's happy with it: Go get it! (I mean that seriously). I for myself won't buy them, won't try them, won't use them. Just simply because I have so much nicely working stuff already. -> Yeah, I know, as if anyone was interested in what I'm NOT using

Yeah, about those... can you suggest some? I have trouble using oils and filters to replicate some of these finer effects. Glazes from the mini painting scene come close, but not very close for me.

We have seen many new products during the last 10 or 15 years, washes, filters, pigments, metallic paints and so on.
In my opinion, they are not necessarily useless stuff intended to empty your pocket, they just provide a different way to do things, or sometimes new things.
You may not be tempted to try some or none of them, but for me is good to have as many options as possible, and any new launch is welcome no matter if I use it or not. Same for the kits.

Just my cent.

These remind me of the inks from Games workshop I used to use 30+ years ago in my table top wargaming days. Used to get some nice effects. Tempted to take a look and depending on price and colours, well who knows.

And I can just second that with repeating what I meant seriously before already: Everyone who's interested, go get 'em! And yes, it is nice to have variety. Our remarks were more directed to the marketing babble of their advertising. I mean,really: NOW they invented THE superproduct making it all happen in the blink of an eye with no effort and no experience... ?

I know what you mean.
And if you watch the videos the manufacturers put out, they do make it look easy.
I try it and it looks like a jumbled mess. Lol

This reminds me of an experience I had in college In 1972. I’ve painted miniatures since the early 1960s. I’d occasionally bring a 54mm figure to the dorm to work on when I wasn’t studying or trying to impress girls. My roommate was fascinated that I could paint tiny figures in such detail. One day he asked if he could give it a try. I tried to teach him everything I knew, About base coats, under shading, highlighting, etc., but his work looked just awful. I tried to tell him the two Ps are is everything— Practice and Patience, that nobody becomes a Michelangelo overnight, the talent may be there, but it needs development and inspiration. Instead, he wanted to rush the outcome by taking shortcuts. In the end, he gave it up. If this product offers a successful shortcut, then it’s worth it to somebody, don’t knock it.
