I don't understand this obsession with TP. Covid doesn't necessarily cause diarrhea. Or is it a contest - he with the most rolls of TP wins!
Posted: Saturday, March 21, 2020 - 03:26 AM UTC
It was the same here 10 days ago, then a COVID emergency state was declared and things got worst."Filling those lockers!" was the cry of the day.
The rush for TP gave birth to many jokes and caricatures.
Like:
Caption: "The Battle for Kaufland AD 2020"(Kaufland is by margin the biggest retailer in Bulgaria)
Or the viral anonimious prediction, posted on FB, about what will happen on each day after COVID emergency state was declared:
"... Day 142- The owner of EMEKA(the most popular TP brand in Bulgaria) buys GOOGLE ..."

After this is over, there will be books appearing, describing personal tales of Corona survival.

I don't care who you are, that's funny.
I scored a small bottle if hand sanitizer yesterday at the store.
I bought 47 pregnancy tests, I figure I will make a killing in about 6 weeks on the blaack market.

I went shopping at the commissary on the local navy base thursday evening about 6 pm. Needed pet food and some fresh veggies. The commissary put a limit of 50 people in the store at one time so they took all the baskets and all but 50 of the carts away. There were signs all over explaining the policy. I got there and there were 4 people in front of me and 3 behind me. We were laughing with the young man who was controlling the number of people at the door when this elderly lady, late 60's I'd say walked up and pushed in front of the first people in line who were an active duty couple in uniform and tried to go in. The guy at the door told her that she couldn't go in yet and she had to go to the back of the line. Two empty carts showed up and the married couple took them to go in and the old lady started pushing the female sailor and trying to take her cart saying "don't you know who I am? My husband is retired captain so and so!". The SP's were there and told her to go to the end of the line and she was still pitching a fit. It got to my turn and I got my cart and sanitizing wipe and she pushed me trying to shove me aside. Now I'm kind of a big guy. Lots of muscle and a bit of gut and she was a wisp of a woman so it was like a chihuahua pushing a bear. I was very polite, I said "ma'am, I've been here less than five minutes, people are going in and coming out quite fast." She called me a name that would get censored here. And the she said she needed toilet paper and hamburger. They guy at the door said "you should have been here when we opened because all that went the first 2 hours". I was laughing as I went in as she stormed off to her car. I was out in ten minutes with enough fresh veggies for a week of salads and two bags of pet food.
I always hated officers wives who thought their husband's rank got them special favors. Mostly saw that in the spouses of Col and above.

Don't know. Same phenomenon in France. Borders don't stop viruses but neither does stupidity.

When my mom passed and I cleaned out her home, I found some TP from the 1970's. Pink, scented and the texture of crepe paper. It would be considered too rough and uncomfortable compared to the modern soft cushy stuff.

When I was a kid on the east coast we had friends who had a rustic farm house in the hills. And I mean rustic. Chamber pots for when it was too cold or dark to head for the outhouse. The outhouse was a two holer complete with a Sears catalog. And anyone who has been in the military, specially the army, knows that our toilet paper, like our weapons came from the lowest bidder. I swear it contained chunks of tree bark.

Do decal sheets or kit instructions make better toilet paper?
If you run out of water, can you drink acryllics? Which taste better - Tamiya, Model Master, AK?
If you run out of food, can you eat the Testors non-toxic model glue?

Went to the store Thursday to get groceries and the shelf which held paper towels on one side and toilet paper on the other was completely cleared out. Then on top of that I read this morning some moron stole 66 rolls of toilet paper from a hotel/or motel in south Florida.

Thanks Russ—this one is priceless! I have a wood shop in the garage. And lots of cedar trees in the backyard. I told my family I could make a killing manufacturing TP right now! As I was sending this out to my family, the thought occurred to me that nobody has thought up names for the forthcoming Hollywood movies about our current situation. I was looking at photos of streets deserted around the world, and came up with two:
“March 2020– The Month the Earth Stood Still”
The other one was “War of the Worlds— Where are the Martians When You Need Them?”
Keep up your sense of humor folks. You might need it when you’re using that homemade TP!
