So, this my 2nd one now finished for this campaign....
My old Chally 1 from C Sqn, the Blues and Royals from Germany, c/s 42.



Very happy with how it turned out. Didn't go mad with the weathering, just a light dusting really.



It's the tamiya kit with all the paints from tamiya, and some Mig pigments.





Basically out of the box, with just some turret basket covers, and antennas and the extra Jerry cans added.

Will add more pics to campaign gallery when it's been done, can anyone ask for the gallery to be made ?

Great finish on the Challenger John. A beautiful companion to the CVR(T).

Alright felllas, managed to finish one project for last year unfinished business campaign:


And I'm once again motivated to finish another stalled project, another T-34. This one goes back to 2016/2017


Originally wanted to get a bit crazy but I'll save it for another time, going with a more straight forward British T-34.


This is where it's been sitting at for awhile now. Wiped off most of the dust, so I'll be getting back into it.

I think this is my third try at it, I'll put some effort into finishing it.

It was reading this translation of a Soviet report that initially gave me the idea:

I'm still not convinced any were actually built though. They may of tested and evaluated them, but as to building one .... Never seen it or heard of it being done. By what is says further on, they decided after the testing of a normal T34 to go with American kit and up gun those ??

Built? None. Was most likely just a proposal that went nowhere. But just the thought of what could have been is the inspiration here.

Well, I ended up finishing something quite different than what I had planned.
I finished a project that has been sitting in a box for over a decade....
The way it went into the box:

Ron, nice finish you have achieved there. I like the way the mud is drawing the boots down or at least the impression that it gives. Sandbags look great, how were they done ? And what scale is it ?

Kit is from Jon Smith Modellbau: Officer 2nd Bt. Durham Light Infantry, Belgium 1915, the scale is 120mm and the sandbags are used, cloth teabags, cut in half and filler with a mixture of fine gravel and pva glue. Pressed into place while still not fully hardened.
For the mud I actually used the last, already hardening, amount of Tamiya putty, which unfortunately collapsed during drying. I had pressed boots into it, simulating footsteps in the mud, but none remained.

Excellent Ron. Great to see something finished that has been waiting for so long. Those tea bag sand bags look great. Good to see they lasted the test of time too.

After some work, the turret and hull:




Now with the new sights, gun, and ventilator. Also wanted to change the shape of the turret just a bit. Fist time working with milliput.

Looking very different with the added shape to the hull. One has to wonder how the original planners thought they would ever fit the 17 pounder in that narrow turret. It was tight in the firefly!

Having finally given up on my only "physical media" stance, I got Steam and bought some games. Currently preoccupied with DOOM 2016, but I still found some time to do some work.


Added a bit more Milliput and Tamiya putty to finish reshaping the turret. Used Squadron green putty to blend and filling in. Decided to go back to the regular T-34 ventilator, had to remove the one I used anyways because it made it easier to sand the roof top level.

Ordered some stuff from the evil bay, this bad boy is going to be lugging stowage. Got some inspiration from the "rack" the Finns welded on the rear of captured T-34/85's.

stripped back and repainted. Have to print some decals for it now as i cant get hold of the Echelon set for this camo pattern

Latest off the shelf of shame..and a hand me down at that. Lately it's been a 25 yr old DML Porsche Jadgtiger that I got as a WIP from a friend with the Jaguar interior.
Except the Jaguar interior is a Henchsel hull. Torsion bars and all..
Reading David B's Superking book and Sam D's Jagdtiger (H) from the Trumpeter 1/16 kits, got me thinking..
So I picked up a Meng KT interior kit cheap and am trying to bash these two together. No torsion bars and no holes through the hull sidewalls, but I have to figure that the longitudinal and transverse lower hull pan stiffeners would have to still be present. Many drive train and other interior fittings rest against them, so I'm leaving those in. There are guides through them for the torsion bars. I am not sure if I am going to saw those off, or if they were standard fittings..
I had to cut the engine deck off and the drivers and radio operators hatch from the orig. DML kit.

There are about a hundred parts in that Maybach engine alone. I figure my Maybach certified engine tech certificate is in the mail.
Still VERY much a WIP nothing is glued into the hull other than the lower front bow plate at this point. But so far, fingers crossed, everything still fits. I am going to have to cut the sidewalls under the fighting compartment at some point, but I'm not there yet.

SO when all of you all get a modern tooled Porsche Jagdtiger kit w interior , ... you are welcome.

Tom's old paint job and some of my Floquil 'Mineral Red' sloppy priming so far.

Alright, my entry into this will be one of the three Tigers I have going on. Here is a pic of three of them.

I decided to finish my Panther that was for last year's Big Cats VI campaign. I bogged down in the beginning of paint prep while it was in sub-assemblies. Kit is Meng's Ausf A Late version with the moveable tracks and active suspension. I tried the zimmerit decals things Meng sells with mixed results. Initially I tried sealing the edges of the decals with CYA but it wasn't working very well and the stuff kept flaking off; I shelved it for a bit and did not finish the initial campaign. I bought a newer faster-dry CYA recently and tried it with better results; got the last of the problem areas to stay down and got the primer down. The zimmerit pieces under the sponsons are not shaped properly but are hidden by the road wheels and schurtzen. I chose option 6 of the 7 provided; the kit does a good job of making sure you are still building your version as there are some parts differences but go ahead and mark off the stuff you DON'T do ahead of time.

Colin, you have done a great job with that cam option. Looks really good and nicely sectioned. Will be nice to see it all together.

Mike, the JTiger is coming along really well and that is a good plan to try and bash the 2 together. You have pulled it off nicely. Hope you can maybe leave the engine cover off and drivers & radio ops armoured cover off so you can still see all the lovely internal detail.. maybe a maintenance Dio ?

Kelly, 3 big cats to choose from...the middle one looks the best option, less to do and it's looking at the stage it's at ....

You've done a splendid job with the Panther Shell, nice finish and another one complete, well done. What unit are those turret markings for ?

Colin love the camo. The "Berlin Brigade' look. The little dio base is also a great touch to set it off. Don't forget to post a couple of pics in the gallery. You need to do that to get the award later this year.
