I've shot from those same fields at Sill! Kinda interesting that they showed the Honest John rocket and M108 in 1966. The rocket was all but gone by then, and the M108 was being relegated to reserve units. By 1967 there was only one or two TO&E units using them. There was a training unit at sill that had a dozen or so, that that was what you learned to drive in. I remember them telling us not to break them as there was no spare parts left in 67.
That hill catching all those rounds was part of the OCS training area. We all had to shoot over there.
That M110 looked like they were shooting the dreaded charge three white bag behind an HE round. You can tell by the noise and length of recoil. When I was there, it was forbiden to ever shoot that round! The film clip gives you the idea on how the gun sets when being fired. The spade actually lifts the back half of the track off the ground to give a better three point suspension. Looked like a zone one charge in the M107 but could have been a zone two. I trained on the M110 and M107, and with the 175 gun we shot from one end of Sill all the way across Lawton OK to the far end of the impact range with a zone three charge.
