Hi guys - I am looking to get a good reference book (meaning lots of pictures) or two on the battle of Kursk. Its really hard to know when you're buying online if a book is going to be good or not. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
Here’s probably the best cheaper option:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/284146&page=1
but if you’ve recently won the state lottery these two volumes beat all:
https://www.amazon.com/Operation-Citadel-Text-Photo-Album/dp/0921991703
https://www.amazon.com/Operation-Citadel-Photo-Album-North/dp/092199172X
Astounding wealth of photos, many not published elsewhere. Luckily I was only interested in Vol 2 & made the bookseller an offer they couldn’t refuse…it had sat on their shelf for over two years. A word of caution, while the tables & stats may be reasonably accurate a lot of the commentary is not, to the extent that a neophyte could easily believe the Germans must have won the battles of Kursk

There is this option, too: https://www.amazon.com/Kursk-Battle-Prokhorovka-Christopher-Lawrence/dp/0971385254
Not cheap, or short, either. This is the final word on Kursk. Has some images, not the photo album mentioned by Tim.
Also, look at leaping horseman books. https://www.leapinghorseman.com/proddetail.php?prod=9780992274917&cat=5
Brilliant and recommended
Those should get you started. Or, if on a budget, look at the Dragon titles on the subject, then try and find those.

Mike
Another Kursk photo album not mentioned is The Battle of Kursk 1943 : the view through the Camera Lens By Valeriy Zamulin, edited by Stuart Britton. This book is thick. The photos are more weighed towards the Soviet side.
The older 2 volume books by Jean Restayn and Nicole Moller mentioned above. You should still be able to order VOLUME 2 from the publisher JJ Fedorowicz. CAD115 plus shipping.
You can also order the Leaping Horseman book from them as well.
https://www.jjfpub.mb.ca/product/operation-citadel-a-text-and-photo-album-volume-2-the-north/
volume 1 (the pink coloured ) covering the southern front is out of print and used book prices are very high.
RZM also published a SIX volume set of photo albums too on the Waffen SS.

Mike,
I just thought of one detail. I mentioned the RZM six volume photo alblums which are now out of print and seems very expensive to buy the set. I had a chance to flip over 2 volumes at the local hobby store a while back. It "may be" a better option to buy George Nipe's Blood, Steel and Myth : The 2nd SS panzer korps and the road to Prochorowka, July 1943 This book is well illustrated and I remember seeing the same photos in the two photo albums i looked at in the hobby store. Blood Steel and Myth is still available from RZM in the USA.
