So today I ordered the Hobbyboss King Tiger Feb-45 production kit.
I want to model King Tiger 324 and it only has 4 spare track hangers each side, but the kit instructions illustrate 3 each side.
I think Hobbyboss have supplied the wrong track type.
Did 324 from S.Pz abt.509 have Gg 24/800/300 tracks.
The kit tracks are Kgs 73/800/152 type.

Thanks
Karl

All the photos of 509th Battalion King Tigers in "Tigers in Combat Vol. 1" by Wolfgang Schneider show double link tracks and four track hangers on each side. No idea what Hobby Boss includes in that particular kit.

The single pin tracks were for the 18 tooth sprocket, which was a very late war (Feb/Mar 45) production mod, although the 18 tooth sprocket itself was already available in 1944.

The inclusion of 3 spare hangar pairss per side facilitated greater insurance in the event of track failure, and also to protect the 80mm turret side armor, which by 1945, had become vulnerable to most allied MBTs, esp Soviet ones.

The msle/female track and 4 per side configuration was standats for most 1944 production vehicles, which I think 324 was, but I need to check my references to be sure. HB KT is a final production variant it seems. I believe it also comes with foilage loops and ribbed front fenders? If you want to change the track, please note you will need the earlier 9 tooth production sprocket as well.

Cheers,
Johanan

Johanan:luckily the kit supplies both 18 and 9 tooth sprocket.
I will have to buy a new set of tracks and relocate the track hangers.
Thanks Johanan/Gerald
