Does everyone like the change I made on the latest posts page?

www.armorama.com/latest

Now each topic shows wether it is new since your last visit. The functionality that is now missing from the main forum page.

I am working on a "Forum Check" page that will display these check marks as well for those who miss this function on the existing forum homepage (they can just bookmark this page or access it via a link).

Cheers,
Jim

I agree with the consensus, the change is good! Heck, it took me forever to find the 'lateset posts' button......but then I'm computer 'challenged'.

Don't worry Jim.....most of your change's do not go unnoticed.

Looks good Jim. Easy to tell where you last left off at.

Now to ask a "get fancy" question. Is there any way to get the latest posts page to only show the forums you want? Like in a main forum, you can click on US Armor, German Armor, etc. Any way to do this to all forums so just the ones you want show up on latest posts page?

Getting greedy here!

Hi Jim

That's really neat!

I'm not sure about the "click to sort" button... "ready sorted" would be nicer, so the list more obviously corresponded to the Forum Mainpage... but it great to be able to see again, at a glance, what's new.

All the best

Jim,
Looks, and functions, wonderfully. But, (there is always a but and please don't hate me) how much trouble would it be to change the check marks into an icon that states 'New'. Not to sound illiterate, but the checks had me confused at first. In my little world a checked box means I have complied with that item already.

But that is my humble little two cents worth. As it is it is a leaps and bounds change and will make my little world that much more simplified.

Keep up the good work.

I like the change. I noticed at home on my Mac that when I'm on site initially all the checkboxes appear for new posts since my last visit. When I surf around a bit, only the latest (perhaps within the last five minutes would be my guess) appear "checkboxed". This evening I surfed off-site and cruised a little while. When I returned, I got all the checkboxes back again.

Does this feature work like the old 5-minute update/refresh of the Latest Posts page?

Not exactly. When you visit the forum and you haven't been on the site in a while (10-15 min?) it will either set up a new cookie if you don't have one or update the time on your existing cookie. This "Time" will be your "last visited" date/time. When you revisit the forum the page will show you all new posts since that time. It's definately an un-precise system but a good one for those who visit the site every few hours or so. Obviously if you last visited a few days before EVERY single post on the latest posts page would be flagged.

Wolter - It's a checkmark because the site is multi-lingual and NEW in other languages can get kinda...well, long.

I love this feature, although it looks a bit too crowded on my screen for my personal taste, but I'll get use to it. I love the feature itself !

Good addition !

Not a computer whizzer here but, I noticed that when I'm all caught up with the big "A" from my work PC and then log in to the big "A" at home, that all the latest posts that I read during the day are now 'unread' here...?

Evidently it is not tied to your log in account but, instead it is tied in to the particular machine's cookies that you're sitting in front of?

Not complaining one bit here.... just threw me for a loop if ya know what I mean....
