That's awesome andy007! how did you do that snow it looks really good (need a few pointers for my winter dio in progress)
it's always good to see a non-german diorama, something refreshing! the figs are doenwell and the rubble looks great. Nice job on the tank too. The dio works nicely. well done...

How did you do that snow? I've got some powder from a factory that grinds white marble. They're too fine and I cant make them stay static. If somebody sneezes it blows away.

Hi Andy, a very convincing scene you've got there!! I like the additional wooden armor on the front, and, like the others already said, a very good job on the snow, what did you use for it?

Keep up the good work mate, John.

Andy,

Nice dio you have done! I love it very much! Could you share the way how you achieved the snow so real?

By the way, I got the same set of DML US figures.

Thanks guys.
Theres no real secret to the snow its just Baking powder straight from my mums pantry hehe ( she doesn't know, but probaly does now) I use a seive and sprinkle the baking powder through the sieve and once i have a couple of layers on i give it a good spray with cheap hair spray from about 20 cm up and just let the hair spray drift down , it sets not completely solid but still pretty good i repeat until i have a nice density.

Sushi: You will the love the figures they have been my favourite build ever.

Nice dio Andy. Winter scenes are the hardest to model properly ( in my opinion) and you've made a good job of this one.

congrats Andy...very nice diorama and the snow is awesome. I also liked the snowy weathering on the sherman.Personally I believe you improved so fast in last months. congrats again.
just one comment ; the bricks looked so big to my eyes. maybe you can make smaller bricks next time or you can make it a stone wall in grey tones .

Thanks guys,
I have to agree Dave they are hard but i think that is what attracts me to building them get everything as good as i can.
Graywolf: I think the bricks do look a bit big i will try make them smaller next time.

hello there. This is a very good job. The snow effect is nicely worked and the drama in the scene is very well presented. The bricks look a lil bigger but this has to be a factory mistake !! :-)

Nice work. Keep like this youre heading up !!!!!

Hi Andy,

Very nice dio. Don't be bothered to much by the bricks, it's the feel of the dio that counts.
Anyway, if you wanted to be historically correct: 90% of the houses in the ardennes in that era were not made of bricks, but with natural stone. Bricks were mostly used for stables, chapels and factory buildings.

And to point out a common mistake: it is BastoGNe not BastoNGe. Just a tip from a "local".

Lord Kiwi Dude

Good concept with this dio. The layout is well balanced -- there is a lot going on here for the eye to see.

Cool pic through the door---very nice touch with that one.

Solid!

Wow that came together quite fast!! Looks pretty good !! One thing I would do is push the tanks into the ground work a bit more and show where the tank has come from ...Shermans are 30 tons of steel and would leave a very deep imprint in the snow ..I would even show dirt mixed into the snow to show how it churned up the ground behind it...
Good job !!

I don,t know if it will work with baking soda snow but I would try some Raw umber oil paint washes ...try it off the dio first ...If the wash is too hard wait for it to dry a bit and mix in more baking soda ...I don't know if this will work but give it a try....sorry I didn't get back faster ..I don't check this forum as much as the others...
