Not strictly 'modern', but post-war.
Can anyone suggest a reasonable Humbrol/Revell colour match for a 1/72-scale Leopard 1A2?
The Italeri kit that I am planning to tackle suggests 'Olive Drab'.
I was under the impression that the correct colour was 'Gelboliv'. Perhaps Revell 42 is the nearest to this colour … or even 46?
Thanks,
Paul

RAL 6014 would indeed be Revell #42.
I've used it on old Roco German armor.

Robert,
Thanks for that confirmation.
Frustratingly, I am without that colour in my drawer at present, and given the current crisis, it will be some time before my local hobby shop is open for me to purchase a tin. At least I know what I need when we get back to normality.

Well that's a shame. There are a few German online shops that sell it, like this one:
www.axels-modellbau-shop.de
It seems to be the cheapest at 1,83 EUR.
But I"m guessing they don't ship "hazardous" stuff like that on your side of the pond.

I thought Rustoleum/Testors pulled the plug on the whole Model Master line?

Which is why I'm hoarding it instead of toilet paper.

You sure about that stock number? 1584 comes up as Yellow Chromate Primer for aircraft interiors. Revell Germany recommends Model Master enamel color 2089 Luftwaffe RLM 80 Olivgrun as a reasonable match for 6014 Gelboliv, also available as 4790 in the Model Master Acryl range.

I personally used Revell 46 NATO-olive, as it is a very good match to the official RAL6014 color chip I have. Better than Revell 42 in fact...

Model Master is dead, but if you can still obtain it, then they in recent years released the color as 2175 RAL6014 Gelboliv NATO.

Remind me not to use the facilities when I come to visit!
Paul, try getting some from Models For Sale - they are in the UK and are still shipping - I got Tamiya paint from them the other day. Revell 42 is here: https://www.modelsforsale.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=338013&osCsid=kdksebanprf1mert7q6d5kak54&Revell-18ml-36142-42-Acrylic-Matt---Olive-Yellow
They also list Revell 46 in stock if you want to do a comparison.

Of course scaling it down to 1/72 will probably require the addition of a bit more yellow no matter which shade you go with.

Hi!
I must admit, that I also used Revell 46. "Officially", this was the colour recommendation for all German Bundeswehr stuff when I build it as a teenager before 3tone camouflage came.

I think I'd support Pawel in this; I used to use Revell 42 Gelboliv for my 1:35 German armour, but even in that scale found it a bit too dark; Revell 46 works well but I also use Tamiya Khaki Drab XF-51.
