After some much needed time off. I've decided to get back into scale modelling.
I had amassed such an enormous collection over the years, it was stressing me out to the point I couldn't even start anything, let alone finish anything. I sold it all so I could start over with a clean slate
So now I'm going about it with a new approach - One kit at a time (I know, sounds almost sacrilegious).
Yet, I have no idea where to start. I used to focus on WWII German tanks. However, I'm definitely more into artillery pieces, the bigger the better (no tracks, so tired of tracks).

Preferably I'd like to start with something that I could make OOB and still look really good, I'd consider 1 AM kit, but nothing overboard. I prefer 1/35 or larger. Modern/WWII/WWI, Axis/Allies, Plastic/Resin, it really doesn't matter. I got rid of all my scratch styrene so preferably nothing that needs a lot of cosmetic work.
My last kit I built was the Big Bertha. Before that the Takom Skoda 30.5cm. Both were really good kits.
Any thoughts?

If you are definitely more into artillery pieces, I would recommend you AFV Club's 8.8 cm FlaK 18(#AF35088).

It is the iconic German WWII gun, it builds perfectly OOB and if you allow yourself into just 1 AM set, you can always go for a metal gun shield.
Not that kit's plastic one is bad- it is thin enough, plus a lot of these guns were used without having the shield mounted.

Apart from the above there is a whole bunch of smaller calibres and resin kits of WW I artillery.
Lots of AA-guns. Since you ruled out tracked chassis almost all of the SP artillery is out.

I had that at one time too!
Unfortunately, based on the reference material I had and what I could find online, almost nothing from the kit is accurate.
It would still build up to be an impressive kit, but it was in need of so much work!

P.S. The desire for accuracy can really cramp ones style sometimes. Reference materials can be two-edged swords

Pull 20 kits out of your stash. Place them close together...no order. Blindfold yourself. Build the first one picked.

I'm thinking of wanting to build the 21 cm Mörser 18 from the Germans. I had build a 1/72 scale variant. But did get rid of it and I'm thinking of wanting to do a 'rebuild' project of it, but in 1/35 scale. Trumpeter is one of the only ones I have spotted so far with this kit.

Best thing to do is pick up to five kits and do a vote on here and see which wins
