It's time to resume a project I started 2 years ago, just before I was diagnosed depression.
The main idea is to build a scene of a MH-53 in a maintenance facility. This is the link of the beginning: https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/268185#2266964
A brief resume of the material I'll use and a small updates on the helicopter's tail.
I tried to find a detail set for the MH, but as I couldn't find any, I bought an Apache engine set.
The engine is smaller than the MH's but I think was the best option.
For the ground crew I bought this Hasegawa kit
These pictures are of the helicopter when I boxed it.
This is one pallet I made for the rear ramp.
And the works I made on the folded tail
My last update has been painting her frame. I left one side on Navy grey as it would be waiting for painting. You can also see the open panel in the front.
That's all for now. I hope you like the project. Thanks for watching.
Regards!

I like what you did with your MH-47E. Not surprisingly, I've got MH-53 photos I took while on Coronado Island. In maintenance no less. I'll send them to you.

Today's work. I have made the base using a piece of cardboard. A bit of sanding and primer before painting.
Painted in Light grey with 3 lights after. The joints are painted in black and faded with a bit of grey later.
And here I applied Tamiya's panel liner on the joints and some spots over the floor.
Next I have made 2 equipments, one is a High pressure compressor and the other is a stand for a fuel tank made from this kit
Last, I applied a glossy coat to the helicopter before weather her.
Regards!!!

Hi friends!!
Yesterday's work. Not a very productive day, but quite happy with the work.
Fuel tank and elevator (I'm not sure how you call it in English) completed. Also a High pressure compressor.
And some equipmente more, a tool box and fire extinguisher.
I'm working now on a new stands for the helicopter. I hope I'll be able to show you up something more in the evening.
Happy thursday!

Thanks Rob!!
That's the tool we use at work to lift the motorcycles, we call it just elevators, for elevating plaform.
Yesterday's work was also improductive. The kids keep me busy.
I was looking at some real helicopter pictures and found some gadgets to scratch.
I found that there's a light in the nose, so I drilled a hole to glue a piece of transparent sprue.
I also found these 4 "sensors" I guess, and made them with 0.30mm rod.
Last things I found was a grid over the canopy and a exhaust (both of the APU I guess), so I drilled a piece of sprue and got a PE from a Stryker I have.
I also finished the stands for the helicopter and set a provisional display
Now I'm guessing how I can build a stand for the blades, but I canīt figure it out.
Today I'm going to apply matt varnish and. mount the tail rotor.
Thanks for watching!!
Regards!

Nice progress. I have photos of blade cradles for the Chinook. They should be similar - they're just racks to keep them off of the ground and from getting damaged. I'll send them.

If you Google image search "73-1649" it will bring up a MH53 I crewed on when I left the Air Force. Been all over those birds. Yours is coming along well.

Thanks Cheyenne! I really enjoy 1/35 more, but I can't store a Chinook at that scale

Well gentelmen, tomorrow I resume my activity at work after the quarantine, so I won't be a ble to advance as fast as now. My last updates for the weekend have been mostly on building a blades rack (thanks to Rob Skipper for the pictures)and finishing some figures.
These are the pictures of the blades rack. I made it with spare parts I found and pieces of the ground equipment set. The IPNs are made with .011"x.033" evergreen strips.
The figures I painted were the lady working on the right landing gear and the mechanic pushing the fuel tank. I also added an hydraulic hose to feed the scissor lift.
This is the blades rack finished
This was a try of a Kilroy
And some overall overviews of the scene.
That's all by now. I'm going to add a new figure working on the open hatch in the front and a electric generator. Also a working light to place under the helicopter.
Hope you have a great week guys!!!
Regards!!

Finished!
After 2 years, I finally made it. It was funny to build and quick, chiefly because the helicopter was almost done. The MH53 is an impressive chopper and I'm not happy enough with the result, mainly the canopy could have been better done.
Now Iīm moving to Aeroscale, I'm going to build a 'blowtorch', as we nickname jets in Spain.
Thanks for watching the project.

Looks great, and you do work pretty quickly.
I agree about the canopy glass. You can still fix some of it. For the yellow stripes, I gave up long ago on trying to paint things like that. I have a collection of solid color decal sheets I like to cut up for various things. I would cut very thin strips of yellow and apply them around the edges.
As for the windscreen, if there are no masks for the particular aircraft I'm doing, I shoot the base color onto clear decal film and do the same thing - edge all of the glass with the decal. It makes very sharp lines and blends right in with the rest of the main color.
But again, very nice job.

Hi Rob!
I appreciate your advices. Itīs a good trick, I'm going to search for yellow decals (for sure I have any on the storage).
I made it quickly because the heli was almost done. BUt when I'm at home without working..... I have spent around 6-8 hours daily. Now that I'm back to work again, I'll go slowly.
Thanks for your kind words!
Regards.
