Typical Großdeutschland schemes for 1943 would be overall dark yellow by itself or with a web or wavey pattern of dark green. There are several good images in Panzer Colours III.

Another scheme that was quite common was the dark yelow with the criss-cross pattern of either schocolade (dark) or red- brown. Vehicle was also extensively used in Africa and Italy. Recommend you buying a set of the Squadron Signal Panzer Colors books....three volumes about $ 10 a pop.

First of all, welcome to the site. Glad you found us. As to your question, the paint scheme you use depends on which version you're building. Earlier versions, up to mid 1943 or so, would normally be painted overall dark panzer gray. In mid 1943, the Germans switched to an overall dark yellow paint scheme. Some were left in overall dark yellow, but it seemed more common for irregular overspray camoflage patterns in olive green and red brown to be added as well. There are really no hard and fast rules or camo patterns for German armor other than when different schemes went into effect. Just have at it and have fun.

squadron has a 251 half track book that is very good! Lots of photos of all variants and a nice color plate in the middle.
Recommend this very much!!!

the model i am building is a hanomag Sdkfz251/1
the colors i am thinking about using are all model masters paints from what i hear they're good paints and i've had good experiences w/ them
i want to do the yellow base coat w/ the green and red/brown camo lines(wavy lines)
Panzer Dunkelgelb-panzer dark yellow
panzer red brown
panzer schokoladenbraun
i dont know what color green i should use, just a regular olive drab!? i wanna stick w/ the german ww2 military colors if i can help it, for authenticity

Model Master has a panzer olive green color in their line of German armor colors. It comes out kind of bright, but a little weathering tones it down nicely. If you can't find that color, Tamiya olive green, XF-58 (I think) is pretty good as well.
