That looks a really nice kit. A good surprise from this brand who has not released anything new for years.

If anyone is interested in a complete walkaround including engine in and out of the vehicle, and various stages of disassembly, PM as per usual.

Here's to hoping they'll release some modern figures to accompany the M1280. But I'm not holding my breath.

Yes, 1/72 modern US figures would be good for many of the kits out there.

As for CMK - I love their stuff. I recently purchased their 1/48 fuel trailer, which is very nice. However, this kit is missing the pretty substantial belly armor found on operational units.

The Army just got them this past year. A couple of brigades are breaking them in. I spent some time in the field with them last year. I plan on doing a book on the JLTV when the time is right.

IMO the scout version of the general purpose vehicle is pretty cool. It has a gun shield up top and an LRAS and you can have lots of fun kitting it out for an in-the-field look.



The Marines also have them and I think they have been using them a couple of years.

I need a kit in 35th scale.

Unfortunately the Marines have screwed a few of them up driving them in transport mode.

Have you been to JLTV OPNET yet?

No. I'm sure that's not even an option for me. BTW, I was told the JLTV has a lot more torque than the Humvee so for an inexperienced driver it is easier to flip a JLTV. That happened the first day 3rd ID had their JLTVs. There is a well known photo of that. I'd like to get back out in the field one more time before moving forward with a book. But 1st Bde 3rd ID is headed to Korea soon so that won't be happening. I'm trying to get some access to the Marine trucks. Green ones would be good to see.

Yeah, they're especially easy to flip in the fording configuration. I've seen some of those same photos. When driving in transport configuration dudes are tearing up the front fenders with the tires.
I've got a pretty good walk around for two different versions myself, but three tone and tan, no plain green. I guess they weren't making them in green that day.
They get shipped to Fort McCoy for final assembly. I'd like to see them again when the weather is above -10.
