Really cool!
I do get some 40K orc-vibes with this one.

It was super fun to build and should be even more fun the paint and weather. Also will get started on the display base.
On to the photos...
Thanks as always for stopping in!

Hello Everyone!
Got Started on the painting this past week. Primed in black then highlighted with a light tan. For the main color I decided to try something a bit different...Oils.
I wanted to see if a model could painted entirely with artist oil and try to achieve the subtle tonal variation that oil paints can provide. I used Winsor and Newton Artisan line of oils. These are a Water Mixable Oil, and yes its still an oil paint. So I mixed up a olive drab-ish color and applied it in vary thin layers. It was all going well until I took some photos and discovered that the OD was WAY to green.
So after this drys I'll mix up another batch of OD that's more OD, test it out first with photos and reapply it. Hopefully with better results.

Thanks Sir! I'm just not felling that green though.
I just scored some Wilder weathering oils in OD that have the color I was going for. I'll be using them instead of mixing my own.

Hello Everyone!
Got the OD color sorted out and reapplied...Looks much BETTER!!
So with the OD taken care of I started weathering up the underside. I primarily used VMS pigments and binders along with several True-Earth SDW paints. Happy with the results...
Thanks for Stopping In & Comments Always Welcome

Hello Everyone!
This project is nearing the end as decals and finial weathering are under way. Also reworked the display base and the vehicle commander has arrived for duty.

Thanks Steve!!
The Back story goes that the US started to license build the British 17pounder to counter the numerous German heavy armor. For the build the barrel is from the AFV Achilles kit.

Eric,
Perhaps you could add some photos of the completed diorama ... without the workbench background.

Thanks Everyone!!
@ Gregory: I'd be more then happy to! Though not quite sure how I would do it. Maybe a new thread, Messaging with you or possibly even a zoom section. I open to most anything.
@ Paul: I certainly plan to do just that but build is in the finial touch-up phase. These pictures were a bit of a teaser of what will come later this weekend.
