After boring the pants off everyone with talk about getting some 1/72nd Armor... I finally went out and did it :-) I started in a fairly conventional way, 2 of the Revell Bradleys, one of their Warriors and , because it has nothing to do with the above, an Italeri Valentine (also in 1/72). The sophistication of the Brads has to be seen to be believed...In fact they definitely deserve a good comprehensive review....Jim

I know what you mean Easy, however, when I was in Scotland I was looking at the Cromwell models stuff as well and frankly the price difference between their stuff and Revell is minimal. Bearing in mind that with Cromwell, the construction time is a lot less than the Revell kits and (logically) the range is vast as well. The advantage of Revell is that it covers a lot more of the modern stuff (Brads, Warriors, Marders etc.). Curious how the price difference is closing between resin and plastic..... ...Jim

I have quite a few Revell of Germany 1/72 scale armor kits. I enjoy them and think they are tops. I'd like to see them make a new M113A3. With various replacement sprues they could do the whole M113 FOV.

As far as the Revell kits I have on hand:
3 M1A1 Abrams
3 M2A2 Bradley (one also builds into an M3A2)
2 Marder 1A3 (one with modern panzer grenadiers)
2 Leopard 2A4 (one in a Monogram box)
1 Leopard 2A5 KWS
1 Leopard 1 Biber (bridge carrier)
1 PanzerHaubitze 2000
1 SpahPz Luchs
1 Challenger 1 Mk 3 KFOR
1 Tiger I ausf. H (early)
1 Tiger I ausf. E (late) with snow troops
1 StuG 40 ausf. G (StuG III)
1 T-34/85
2 T-80
2 M4A1 76mm (one in a Matchbox box)

I've got a bit of photoetch sets for most of these kits as well. As you can see, I am quite the fan of Revell's 1/72 scale armor line. I do like PST, some Italeri/ex-Esci, and other various manufacturer's 1/72 scale kits as well.

Sabot, how was the T-34-85? Does it have a good fit? Link and length or rubber treads? Are there also Panzer IV in that scale by Revell?

It is pretty good, all Revell kits have link & length tracks. Haven't run across one that had vinyl yet (but the old reboxed Matchbox kits do). They do several PzKpfw IV chassis vehicles, an H, a J and a Sturmgeschutz. I forgot I also have a PIOModels Bergepanther that includes the Revell of Germany Panther A/D kit.

Sabot, I was told by the owner of a model store in Glasgow ( a guy I have known for almost 30 years), that FINALLY, Revell (Germany) is in the hands of some very serious people - i.e. people who understand the finances and also the market demand. Case in point has to be the 1/72nd Type VII U-boat. The reps of Revell are telling the LHS to be prepared for some really innovative stuff. The bean-counters seem to be happy with the philosophy as well...So to repeat an often-heard cliché. we shall see what we shall see....Jim
