Hello,

I tried applying Mission Models Russian Dark Olive today to a T-34 I am working on. There was extensive paint buildup on the tip of my airbrush (Paasche H) and barely any paint was coming out.
I put 20 drops into the paint cup with two drops of MM thinner.

Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening and how I can rectify this issue?

Thanks,

Brian

Sounds like you have not thinned enough.

I added additional thinner later on and I still had the same issues.

I’ve run into similar issues with their paints. Their video on YouTube says to use 3 drops of thinner for every 10 drops of paint. Normally that works ok for me, but sometimes some bottles of paint seem to be thicker than normal. In those cases I’ll put 2 or 3 more drops of thinner in. My main problem has been with the primer. I’ve had to put several more drops of thinner in that. I’ve also found that the best way to proceed when the brush clogs up is to stop and completely clean it before continuing.

That should be 2 drops of thinner for every 10 drops of paint.😚

What was they last paint you sprayed before the mission models paint? If it wasn’t a true acrylic like Vallejo or Life Color it sounds like the mission models paint reacted with something still in your brush. Tamiya or any lacquer or enamel will do that.

Yes, it's funny, when I first airbrushed these paints a couple of years ago, I did not have any problems whatsoever. I was really pleased with how they sprayed. I just don't know what's going on with them.

Yes, I will try out your suggestions to see if they work.

I think the last time I airbrushed I used either AK Interactive or Ammo of Mig. Didn't use any lacquer based paint.

Go through mission models faq on their website.
Buildup could be several issues, completely incompatible with any other paints/ thinners/ alcohol/ windex e.t.c
Likely your airbrush isn't as clean as you think it is and lastly you may have damage to your needle even if it looks straight.
