Because he is an officer and has tender feet.

Set one (notice the officer with Map - bad decision by the crew there. and no tanker helmets for the crew? Oddball would be turning n his grave.):

I thought these might be from a Japanese anime tv show, but I thought wrong..
I guess the modelling world has gone to the dogs (and rabbits and chickens...)
