I made a sign post for a dio of a Dragon Wagon near Bastogne. I sim;y went to Mapquest and looked up Bastogne, Belgium and looked at the towns around the area to get the names. For the sign, I created it in Power Point as a simple European sign with a white background and Black block letters with one side of the rectangular sign in an arrow indicatong direction. I then printed, cut out and attached it to a thin piece of plastic card painted a wooden color on the back. Lastly, I attached the signes to a weathered 1/4 inch dowel as the sign post that doubled as a telegraph pole ,and placed it at a crossroads. Came out pretty realistic. Here is the dio. The signpost is in the lower left.

Whoa!!!! Dragon Wagon man. Love your work. Love that big dragon wagon. Too bad our hobby store in Saudi Arabia is not well stocked. Having it shipped here is quite expensive as well. I'll just have to dream about it for the meantime.

Your cheapest bet is to find a ref pic (or make one up) and make it in MS PAINT or other program. Print it out in various sizes and determine which one looks the best. You could either mount it on placard (i use icecream container lids instead) or on a piece of aluminium can etc....

Maybe this is regional, but an example of roadsigns in Normandy area had dark printing on a white sign with the first letter of the name in caps and the rest in lower case. An Ardennes example was reversed (light printing on a dark background) with the entire name in caps.
